Surgical Clinics

Our clinics in surgery, urology, breast, admission, stoma, and uro- and intestinal therapy are under the surgical clinic where the staff takes great personal responsibility for developing and advancing care.

Surgery and Urology Inpatient Care

The mission of the surgical and urology department is to provide the population of Gotland and visitors with good and safe surgical and urological inpatient care. Patients with needs for inpatient care for ear, nose, and throat diseases, after trauma, and those requiring eye care also come here. The department has 18 beds.

We value that you are engaged and flexible as a person with a pronounced ability to collaborate. Together with your colleagues, you contribute to developing the operations and creating a pleasant work environment.

A nursing leader/surgical nurse is present on the department during weekdays to lead and support during the day.

Your Responsibilities

In the Clinics

In our surgical clinics, you work together with doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants in a responsible and evidence-based manner, adhering to established routines.

You will work across all clinics, assisting in various doctor visits such as vascular clinics including Doppler examinations, minor surgeries, and urological examinations. You will also independently manage patient bookings for tasks such as dressings, medication installations in the bladder, urinary flow measurements, patient education regarding RIK, injections, and telephone advice in the TeleQ system.

You collaborate with the nurses in the clinics to distribute the work to be performed during the day. The work takes place during the day with most patients booked, but urgent assignments within the clinic may occur.

As the position is new, the development of tasks will be shaped over time together with you and other colleagues.

In Inpatient Care

You work closely with nursing assistants near the patients, responsibly and evidence-based, adhering to our routines. In your role as a nurse with us, you are responsible for your care team and lead the care of the patients. You are expected to have a person-centered approach and assume that each patient has unique needs and conditions, where the patient's relatives are also an important piece of the puzzle and resource. Influence, participation, and job satisfaction are key words for your daily work, and we see patient safety, collaboration, and communication as important parts.

In the department, you primarily work with acute care, preoperative preparations, and postoperative care. You are responsible for handling peripheral and central access, sampling, monitoring and assessment of NEWS2, fluid balance, tubes, drains, EDA, and stomas. Pain relief and mobilization after surgery are also important tasks.

Who Are You?

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. It is advantageous if you have experience in emergency care or surgical/urological care.

Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is important in your patient interactions and for collaboration in the department and clinic.

You have a positive attitude towards our patients. In addition to good computer skills, you are meticulous, have good collaborative skills, and can work independently. It is important that you enjoy working with varied tasks, even under sometimes high pressure.
