Make a difference. Every day.

Do you want to work hands-on with patients in close collaboration within a multiprofessional team? Do you want to be part of a dynamic work environment characterized by interprofessional learning where we learn with, from, and about each other? Do you want to work throughout the care process for patients with neurological diseases, from acute treatment starting in the emergency department to intermediate care and ward care? Then apply to us in northern Europe's most modern healthcare building, which we will move to on September 15 this year!

Currently, the inpatient care of neurology and neurological care is in a dynamic phase that you will have the opportunity to be a part of and influence.

  • We have introduced a development program called the competence and service model (career path) for nurses where you can alternate your clinical work with education.
  • In September, we will move to the new and modern care building Nya sjukhuset Malmö with new technology that opens up more opportunities to improve care and our work environment.
  • The neurology department actively participates in international research and new treatment methods are being introduced.
  • Within the area of neurology, several areas for national highly specialized care are conducted.
  • In our units, we are in an exciting phase to develop person-centered care in collaboration with Lund University.

We consist of the Intermediate Care Unit for neurology and the Neurology Ward, where we collaborate to offer our employees the career path and development they seek. The most common diagnoses in both units are acute stroke, epilepsy, traumatic brain injuries, and neuromuscular diseases. We care about your work environment and place great focus on competence supply and education, where we have regular lectures.

In the Intermediate Care Unit for neurology, patients with acute neurological diseases requiring extra monitoring and more advanced care, including advanced respiratory care, are treated. We are one of the few departments at Sus that cares for patients with tracheostomy. The Intermediate Care Unit for neurology has 8 care places, including thrombolysis places. Each team cares for 3-4 patients and consists of a nurse and a nursing assistant. Most patients are admitted via the emergency department, but we also receive patients from the intensive care unit (ICU) and other departments within Sus.

In the Neurology Ward, we have 18 care places divided into 3 teams. The staffing is balanced, with both nurses and nursing assistants, and there is flexibility to change depending on the workload. You are an important part of the ward's future development. In the Neurology Ward, we care for patients who have a lower level of supervision and are more stable in their condition. Most patients are admitted via the Intermediate Care Unit for neurology, the emergency department, and the acute care ward.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will work in a multiprofessional team together with doctors, nursing assistants, coordinators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dietitians, and social workers. Together with the patient and with support from the team, the neurological care is adapted based on each patient's background, conditions, resources, and wishes to promote health. We are proactive in the nursing work to stabilize and rehabilitate patients with neurological diseases.

We constantly work on development and improvement measures, which means there is room to work within the areas of development that interest you. We also have nursing leaders employed at night. We have close cooperation between the Intermediate Care Unit and the Neurology Ward, which is also linked to our presence in the same premises. Rotation between the departments occurs at night.

As a new nurse with us, you will be offered an introduction with the possibility of a mentor to support you as needed. Which department you start in is determined in dialogue and based on your conditions. We want to promote that based on your personal development, you have the opportunity to work in both units. We adapt the introduction together with you and base it on your wishes and conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a licensed nurse with permission to practice in Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale are required.

Furthermore, we would like you to have an interest in neurology. You also have good collaboration skills and enjoy working in a team, while being able to work independently and make your own decisions. Additionally, we value that you have a good attitude towards both colleagues and patients and that you contribute to our positive work environment. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
