Make a difference. Every day.
Landskrona Hospital is the small hospital with big opportunities!
Now you have the chance to become part of a welcoming and competent team in the Surgery and Urology Department in Landskrona. With us, you will come to a small and family-like hospital where you will never be just another face in the crowd. Landskrona Hospital is the smallest hospital in Region Skåne with about 380 employees. It is easy to commute to the hospital as the train station is within walking distance, and there are also buses to the hospital.
The Surgery and Urology Department is a short-term care unit providing pre- and post-operative care. Here, ten nurses and seven nursing assistants work together. There are also four care coordinators who call patients for surgery. We are open Monday to Friday and have 18 beds focusing on urology, surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, and pelvic floor surgeries. The patient clientele varies depending on the surgical needs in the region. We care for both outpatient and inpatient patients from all over southern Sweden.
In our department, we work with patients related to elective surgical and urological procedures. We are a small, well-functioning unit with a lot of varied work. All patients who are operated on at Landskrona Hospital and need to stay overnight are cared for here. We focus heavily on the quality of care for our patients, and it is important for us that our patients feel safe and well-prepared both before and after surgery.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are now facing the retirement of our night nurse. Therefore, we welcome a new night colleague to our wonderful team in the surgery and urology department.
We are responsible for the patient both pre- and post-operatively. Here, the staff follows the patient's pace and is attentive to their needs. We monitor vital parameters and treat pain and nausea, among other things. Working with us means caring for patients after many different surgical procedures, which makes your shifts varied and stimulating.
From Monday to Wednesday, the night shift is staffed with two nurses and one nursing assistant. On Thursdays, fewer patients are operated on, and then the staffing consists of two nurses.
During the introduction, there is an opportunity for job shadowing in other units, such as our outpatient clinic, recovery unit, and surgery, to gain a comprehensive view and deeper understanding of what our surgical and urological patients go through during their care journey. Internal lectures are held within the area of operation, and we also conduct other regional lectures together in the department.
- The work is varied, and I learn something new every day. The workgroup is humble, and there is always someone to ask; no question is dumb. The work is characterized by a lot of laughter, and the manager's door is always open, says Amanda, who has worked in the department for nine years as a nurse.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to work within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale are required. Previous experience in recovery work and understanding how we manage our patient flow in the best way is an advantage for the position. Similarly, experience in surgical and/or urological operations is also beneficial.
As a person, you are engaged and have an easy time collaborating with others. You enjoy working independently as well as in a team. Furthermore, you are focused and thrive in changing tempos and can prioritize. Additionally, you show care for patients and are a good colleague. Since we are keen to find the right person for the position, we place great importance on personal suitability.
In this recruitment, we work with ongoing selection. We warmly welcome your application today!
