We are currently seeking a duty officer for the Regional Command Center in Region North, located in Umeå. With us, you will develop and gain life experiences alongside dedicated and friendly colleagues, while your work contributes to increasing safety and reducing crime in Sweden.
The North Police Region is the largest region in terms of area. The region consists of the four northernmost counties in Sweden and is organized into four police areas: Jämtland, Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland, which are further divided into 12 local police areas. Additionally, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit, and the investigation unit, a regional office, and national departments that are represented in the region to support police operations.
The Regional Command Center in Region North is responsible for the police's intervention operations throughout the region and is a section within the operational unit. The workplace consists of RLC operators, RLC commanders, duty officers, and support services working side by side. At the Regional Command Center, information and events are managed, assessed, and prioritized through incoming phone calls and radio calls.
The operations at the Regional Command Center are characterized by a clear citizen perspective, where the center must maintain a very high availability for matters requiring immediate or urgent police interventions and a high availability for other matters.
Job Description
The duty officer is responsible for exercising leadership within the region based on an updated operational situation in close collaboration with the national command center. Leadership refers to proactively directing and reallocating resources within the region where they are most needed or expected to be needed during the ongoing or upcoming shifts.
Leadership should be exercised so that the region's collective external resources can be used as efficiently as possible, allowing functions to jointly maintain high availability and service for citizens. The purpose is to uphold public order and safety for the public.
Through close cooperation with the region's operations center, where you also serve as OPK part of the day, you will compile and share situational reports of the event-driven operations while being informed about the planned operations. You will contribute to the development of the RLC's operations and support other groups.
Responsibilities and duties include, among others:
- Leadership and distribution at RLC during individual shifts, which includes ongoing operational management via supervisors at RLC, as well as leadership of external resources in collaboration with external commanders and on-duty FU leaders
- Responsibility as designated rescue leader for such state rescue services that fall under the police
- Collaborate and share information with NLC, PKC, and NTV that is significant for the mission's objectives
- Make authority decisions according to delegation orders and ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with applicable legislation and the authority's goals
- Collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders such as regional units, SOS alarm, SKR, correctional services, etc.
- Initiate and be responsible for the region's rapid transition to lead operations in special order according to regulations for special events
Qualifications
This is an opportunity for you who are/have:
- Police officer according to Regulation (2014:1105) on training to become a police officer
- At least 1 year of continuous experience working as a supervisor, primarily from operational activities
- Broad experience from various parts of police operations
- Experience in leading others towards set goals and results
- Have Swedish citizenship
We consider it an advantage if you also have:
- Experience in operational planning and/or service in a command staff during special events
- Experience in investigation and prosecution activities
- Knowledge of operational leadership including search for missing persons (EFP) and, where applicable, mountain rescue
- Knowledge and experience in investigation and prosecution methods according to the Police's national investigation directives (PNU)
- Knowledge of relevant IT support (Storm MA/Cortex/Map, etc.) and the MS Office suite
- Completed basic leadership training
- Completed tactical leadership training and/or national staff training
- Completed leadership training, direct, indirect, or strategic level or equivalent
- Completed national VB training
