The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Growing – We Are Hiring
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding to our operations, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.
The Umeå operational area includes the closed prison Umeå, the open prison Sörbyn, and the remand facility Umeå. We are undergoing significant capacity increases, and there is a lot happening in the operational area in terms of renovations and new constructions. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also employ healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc. At the Sörbyn prison, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in the kitchen, carpentry, crop production, textiles, etc. The Sörbyn prison is an agricultural facility with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At the Umeå prison, inmates are engaged in wood/industry, kitchen, learning centers, and treatment programs. The Umeå prison and remand facility are about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and the Sörbyn prison is easiest reached by car. Staff parking is available at all units.
