Your Upcoming Role
As a pipe layer in the Contracting Unit, you will be part of a team with a dedicated team leader.
The team you will join consists of another pipe layer, an excavator operator, and a truck driver. Together, you form an efficient pipe laying team with the support and guidance of the team leader. Your tasks include:
- performing excavation, pipe laying, and ground works on water and sewage lines within the operational area
- performing service measures in connection with water and sewage preparedness
- digital reporting of completed work
- on-call duty may be included with a response time of 60 minutes
The work is carried out in the form of projects or assignments of varying sizes and scopes. Working hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the position is based in Malmö, but you will work in all municipalities served by VA SYD. The tasks are developing, and the unit follows technological advancements in its field.
The Contracting Unit primarily works with contracting jobs on water and sewage networks and service measures related to water and sewage preparedness. The unit has about 40 employees, most of whom are pipe layers with various specialist skills.

Who Are You?
For our Contracting Unit, we are looking for an engaged and proactive pipe layer with strong collaboration skills. Good service comes naturally to you, and you thrive in a job with a lot of customer contact. You have a good ability to plan your work and can adapt to changing circumstances. As a pipe layer, you will work with various types of pipe laying jobs, which means you need to be flexible. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. You fully support our environmental identity and our core values: quality, commitment, and responsiveness.
Your Experience
We are looking for someone with a background in construction work; if you also have knowledge of water and sewage, that is a significant advantage. A few years of professional experience is beneficial, but we place great importance on your commitment, your willingness to develop within construction and pipe laying, and that you meet the following requirements for the position:
- Experience in construction work on land; experience with external water and sewage is an advantage
- Completed high school education (preferably in construction and civil engineering)
- Computer proficiency (as we work with digital reporting)
- Class B driver's license
- Experience in plastic welding is an advantage
