Summer Substitute Teacher at SiS Youth Home Stigby
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS Youth Home Stigby in Visingsö has space for 35 young people and accepts non-compulsory school boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We are divided into a MBB department (reception and needs assessment), four treatment departments, and a discharge preparation department in Jönköping.
Job Description
Do you want to take on a challenge with a unique mission in an exciting environment and in a smaller context? Then the job as a summer substitute teacher in the school is a meaningful challenge.
SiS Youth Home Stigby’s school offers education for 35 young people. The students study within IMA. They are offered basic school subjects, various high school subjects, and vocational practical training with elements from working life in the form of APL. There are five vocational programs: industrial technology, crafts, construction, vehicle and transport, and restaurant and food program. Additionally, we have a football focus as football is an important element in both school and treatment activities. Teaching occurs in small groups. The school is a very important success factor within institutional care.
The school is very important for the students, and therefore we need to expand with hourly and summer substitutes who help us provide the teaching time that students are entitled to. In your role, you will replace regular staff in the operation when they are absent. This may mean taking on the role of a teacher in various subjects. We work in teams where we contribute and share knowledge and lessons with each other, and where collegial learning is a natural part of your teaching assignment. You will be part of a team that works together for a positive work environment where everyone's ideas are respected and welcomed.
The working hours are scheduled during the day.
As an hourly and summer substitute at SiS, you will undergo a tailored introductory training to prepare you for your assignment.
Qualifications
Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformation. Experience is valuable, but most importantly, you want to make a difference for each individual and be flexible. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a well-founded positive view of people, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. High adaptability and responsiveness are prerequisites for understanding new environments and thus being able to contribute to a functioning operation. It is important that you are responsible, proactive, have good collaboration skills, and can set boundaries when needed.
You should also have:
- Completed high school education
- We prefer that you are studying in teacher education or social work, or have experience working with youth in professional life or leisure activities
- B driver's license
- Good Swedish in speech and writing
It is advantageous if you have:
- Relevant education and/or work experience
You share our vision of being a place for change, which permeates your approach, engagement, and attitude. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities and suitability.
At SiS, we care about good employee relations. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation. Read more about our employee relations.
