At Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we are proud to offer a residency program (AT) of high quality with satisfied resident physicians and an engaged and responsive AT organization. We care that you as a resident physician thrive, grow, and gain a solid foundation for your medical licensure. With us, you will receive 6 months of research and 18 months of clinical training divided into 4 months of medicine, 4 months of surgical specialties, 3 months of psychiatry, and additionally 1 elective month within medicine/surgical specialties. On-call duty is included. You will conclude your residency with 6 months of general medicine at one of the health centers located throughout the Gothenburg area, including the archipelago and surrounding municipalities of Partille, Härryda, and Mölndal.

About You

To apply for the research residency, you need to have completed at least 10 semesters of the medical program or have valid permission from the National Board of Health and Welfare.

It is advantageous if you have:

• obtained a medical degree
• experience of clinical work as a junior physician
• experience in teaching and/or supervision
• experience in research in the form of publications, doctoral registration, disputation, and professorship
• experience of other work within healthcare and social care.

We are looking for someone who is stable and confident in themselves. You dare to make priorities and take your own decisions based on the information you have while knowing when to ask for advice. You are good at seeing the big picture and your role in it. You find it easy to collaborate in a team and treat others with care and respect. To offer our patients good and safe care, it is a requirement that our employees have good language skills and the ability to communicate in Swedish. Personal suitability is highly valued.

To start a position as a resident physician at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, a valid medical degree is required.

Therefore, you do not need to submit your own personal letter, CV, or any recommendation letters. To credit the experiences you state in your application documents, these must be substantiated by certificates. You can make additions until the final application date.

This is what you need to prepare for your application:

• transcript from Ladok, medical degree certificate valid in Sweden, or permission from the National Board of Health and Welfare to do residency
• if you have trained as a physician in a country other than Sweden and do not have a Swedish high school diploma, the following is required: Certificate of approved language skills in Swedish corresponding to level C1 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages and English corresponding to the requirements for general eligibility for admission to medical education in Sweden
• employment certificate from the payroll office that verifies worked time and employment degree (not employment contract or recommendation letter)
• research plan describing planned research for 6 months and references, max 3 A4 pages Times New Roman 12 points, single line spacing
• name of supervisor (non-disputing applicant) or where the research will be conducted (disputing applicant)
• certificate from the head of department or division regarding research affiliation at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg
• any publication list
• proof of doctoral registration or completed doctoral degree if applicable.
