AT Physician at NU Healthcare

NU Healthcare is part of the Västra Götaland Region and is one of Sweden's larger county hospitals. We are located at NÄL (Northern Älvsborg County Hospital) in Trollhättan and Uddevalla Hospital. The hospital's catchment area includes 280,000 residents. Together, we are about 5,000 employees who work every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare. We are located on the west coast, and our area offers varied nature with both sea, mountains, forests, and lakes.

NU Healthcare is recruiting 35 AT blocks starting in August and November 2026.

We offer an 18-month service divided between NÄL and Uddevalla Hospital as well as health centers in Bohuslän from Orust and northwards, Uddevalla, Dalsland, and Göta Älv Valley (Trollhättan, Vänersborg, and Lilla Edet). Four of the blocks consist of pedagogical AT with a duration of 18 months. The extended educational initiatives may lead to a slight extension of the AT period. The operations are led by an overarching AT manager, and each starting group has its own individual manager. The total operation includes about 120 employees.

The first two weeks of AT are an introductory period that also includes radiology, simulation, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. After that, the AT service involves block-wise service in surgical and internal medicine specialties, including an acute block, psychiatry, and general medicine. You also have an optional four-week service to deepen your knowledge in a specialty.

AT includes ongoing training days in accordance with the National Board of Health and Welfare's goals for AT. Currently, the training also consists of AT forums, medical role and leadership retreats, AT trips, and a budget for optional courses/AT meetings. We continuously work to create good educational quality, and the training may change in the future.

Interviews will be conducted on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of week 11.

Qualifications

A medical degree or decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare to complete AT must be completed well in advance of the start date. Experience working as a physician, leadership experience, research, or teaching experience, as well as experiences from other relevant professions or organizations are meritorious.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability such as good collaboration skills and solution focus, as well as connection to or interest in our area. We strive for a good group composition with mixed experiences and backgrounds, as we believe it strengthens both the AT group and the organization. In order to offer our patients good and safe care, it is a requirement that our employees have good language skills and the ability to communicate in Swedish.

Attach a Swedish or Nordic medical degree, the National Board of Health and Welfare's permission to complete AT, or alternatively a study certificate. If you have trained as a physician in a country other than Sweden and do not have a Swedish high school diploma, a certificate of approved language skills in Swedish equivalent to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required.
