Education is a core issue in the development of Gävle municipality. Adult education is an important actor in raising the education level of the residents in the municipality. Our mission is to support and stimulate adult learning. With us, individuals are given the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills to strengthen their position in working life and society, as well as for personal development. We give people a second chance. We collaborate with other organizations to educate for work or further studies. Adult education has about 3,500 students per year within the school forms of special education for adults, basic and upper secondary adult education, as well as education in Swedish for immigrants (Sfi). The organization also includes Study Guidance Gävle and a Learning Center for distance studies at a higher level.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The internship coordinator is responsible for supporting and guiding students in Swedish for immigrants (Sfi) towards internship placements and working life, as well as ensuring close cooperation between education and the labor market. The role involves a clear student focus with the goal that students receive language-developing internships linked to the vocationally integrated part of Sfi.

Main Responsibilities

• Find and quality assure internship placements
• Map and contact workplaces within relevant industries.
• Ensure that the workplace meets the education's requirements and is safe
• Match students with suitable internship placements based on goals, levels, and needs. Identify and establish internship placements for Sfi students, in close dialogue with employers and based on the students' individual needs and educational goals, including for students in the academic track who need internships in their professional field.
• Collaboration with the labor market
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with employers. Inform supervisors about the education's goals and what the internship should include, and organize supervisor meetings or information sessions.
• Monitor the external environment and have good knowledge of the region's skills supply needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a post-secondary education in pedagogy, working life, social sciences, or another education that the employer deems relevant for the position. You should also have good digital skills and experience working with digital tools in teaching and administration. Experience in adult education, Sfi, or labor market initiatives is an advantage for the position.
