Temporary position as a researcher at the Institute for Food Economics Analysis focusing on economic modeling and environmental effects of pesticides
The Institute for Food Economics Analysis at the School of Economics and Management, part of the AgriFood Economics Center, is seeking a researcher with an interest in economic modeling and knowledge of the environmental impact of agriculture.
The position is temporary for 2 months.
AgriFood conducts qualified socio-economic analyses in the areas of food, agriculture, and fisheries, as well as rural development on behalf of the government. AgriFood's mission is to bridge the gap between the research community and practical politics. In a complex and changing world, we provide decision-makers with support through scientifically based and independent analyses of current issues. The operation is a collaboration between the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and the School of Economics and Management at Lund University.
Job Responsibilities
The employee will primarily work with agent-based modeling (ABM) as a tool to analyze farmers' decision-making and the consequences of environmental and agricultural policy measures for farmers' economy and environmental values. The work includes integrating the environmental impact of pesticide use into the AgriPoliS model.
Qualifications
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent competence in environmental science or environmental economics,
- Documented good knowledge of the environmental impact of pesticides,
- Experience in ecological and/or economic modeling,
- Excellent ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish or English.
Meritorious
- Experience with the AgriPoliS model or similar models for agriculture,
- Experience in life cycle analysis,
- Knowledge/experience of interdisciplinary work and its methodology.
