Örnsköldsvik Municipality is one of the largest employers in the municipality with approximately 5,500 employees distributed across five administrations.

You will work in the centralized finance department within the municipal executive administration, where all the municipality's economists are gathered. The finance department has both a governing and supportive role.

The finance department is led by a finance director and consists of 23 employees in roles such as accounting manager, finance managers, financial strategist, and economists. We are organized into two units – the financial management unit and the accounting and finance unit, where the municipal group's internal bank is also organized – but we work together across unit boundaries. This provides a wide variety of tasks and good opportunities for personal development. We have flexible working methods and good opportunities for remote work, which creates a good balance between work and leisure.

Responsibilities

As an economist with us, you may work within both the financial management unit and the accounting and finance unit. This position primarily focuses on financial management for one or more of the municipality's administrations, but work with central accounting issues will also be included depending on your skills and the needs of the organization.

In financial management, the role involves:

• working with the administration's budgeting, resource allocation, and financial analyses
• continuously monitoring and analyzing the administration's finances throughout the year and preparing forecasts
• being responsible for the budget and follow-up of investment and operational projects, including externally funded projects
• working on the development of financial processes and working methods, including through digitization
• working consultatively with managers and other key personnel
• actively working on development and renewal, including through environmental monitoring, where you contribute to ensuring that our resources are used efficiently based on operational and accounting knowledge

In accounting and finance, the role involves:

• working with annual and interim financial statements according to municipal accounting law
• working with the municipality's budgeting process
• working on financial investigations, analyses, reconciliations, and follow-ups
• working on quality assurance of the municipality's accounting, environmental monitoring, and development of digital flows

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in economics from a university/college of at least three years and at least three years of relevant experience in similar tasks. We also hope that you:

• have a solid numerical aptitude
• have a good ability to analyze and draw well-founded conclusions
• can see the big picture while paying attention to details in your work
• can work independently, take initiative, and enjoy collaborating with others
• have good pedagogical skills and can communicate economics clearly
• have good IT skills, especially in financial systems and the Office suite
