Lawyer for the Interpreters and Translators Unit
Location: Härnösand
Are you an experienced and pedagogical lawyer who wants to use your legal expertise to support us in our development journey? The Kammarkollegiet offers you a chance to be part of an important societal mission. You will primarily be a supportive legal resource for the operations but will also handle your own cases.
Are you our future colleague?
We are now looking for an experienced lawyer for the Interpreters and Translators Unit, which belongs to the Administrative Law Department. The unit has about twelve employees, five of the positions are located at the office in Härnösand, which this position is also. The other positions are located at our office in Stockholm.
The unit's mission is to design and conduct knowledge assessments for interpreters and translators through written and oral tests and to assess their suitability for the profession. We conduct authorization tests for interpreters in approximately 45 languages and authorization tests for translators in approximately 40 languages. We also supervise those who are authorized and are responsible for registering trained interpreters.
The office is located in nice premises centrally in Härnösand. In the same premises, there are other authorities with which we share a cafeteria and have common areas for meetings and coffee breaks to create social interaction with other civil servants.
Job Responsibilities
The work as a lawyer with us involves a wide variety of tasks within the unit's area of operations and provides a great opportunity to deepen and become an expert. With a coaching approach, you support the handling of cases, develop colleagues in legal application and subject matters, and carry out referral and regulatory work. You identify and analyze issues that need development and establish requirements for improvements, maintain and acquire knowledge, and monitor and develop standards, guidelines, and practices. Supervision and renewal of authorizations will also be part of your duties.
You will conduct legal investigations and write opinions to the court in appeal cases and participate in oral hearings in administrative courts when such become relevant. You will handle and make decisions in your own cases.
The work involves contacts with parties in cases, industry organizations, and collaboration with external actors.
As there is sometimes a high workload in the unit, it is important that you are flexible and see it as a given to support your colleagues. We also expect you to actively contribute to our joint development work and strive for simple, legally secure, and digital working methods.
You will have a structured collaboration with other lawyers in the department to ensure common practices and collegial exchange in legal matters.
