The Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. About the Department

The Psychiatry Department has about 300 employees and includes child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient care as well as adult psychiatric outpatient and inpatient care for the population in Ale, Kungälv, Stenungsund, and Tjörn municipalities.

Within the child and adolescent psychiatric part of the department, about 55 employees work, including seven senior physicians and five resident physicians.

The child and adolescent psychiatry within the department consists of three outpatient clinics: the clinic in Stenungsund receives patients with all types of child and adolescent psychiatric issues, while the two clinics in Kungälv assess and treat patients with affective and neuropsychiatric conditions, respectively. For inpatient care, Drottning Silvia's Children's Hospital in Gothenburg is responsible.

At Kungälv Hospital, there are two specialized psychiatric clinics that both accept patients from the age of 16: an eating disorder unit with day care and a DBT clinic.

The clinics are characterized by high competence and a high degree of collaboration, and operate from a cross-professional perspective. Other professionals working at the clinics include psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and medical secretaries. We have the advantages of a small hospital with short communication paths and good collaboration with colleagues in the adult psychiatric part of the department. Our goal is to provide our patients with the best possible care, and we continuously work on developing our methods and treatments.

We Offer

When one of our current resident physicians becomes a specialist in the spring, we have the opportunity to hire another resident physician in child and adolescent psychiatry at the clinic in Stenungsund, where you will carry out most of your specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Side training and education, including psychotherapy training, to achieve competency goals according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations, are included. Side training can be within the Hospitals in the West or within nearby administrations.

As a physician within BUP, you work in a cross-professional team and participate in the development work of the clinic and the department.

The department has an acute responsibility during weekdays. Under the supervision of the responsible senior physician, you will assist the acute team consisting of two therapists from the affective clinic (usually a social worker and a psychologist) about one day per week. You will answer questions and, if necessary, assess patients, who may sometimes need to be referred to the child and adolescent psychiatric emergency department in Gothenburg for possible admission.

About You

We are looking for someone with a Swedish medical license (license must be attached to the application) and a strong interest in child and adolescent psychiatry. Proficiency in Swedish at level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is a requirement.

Experience in child/adult psychiatry and/or healthcare for children and adolescents is advantageous.

As a person, you are calm and secure in your role as a physician. You are structured, flexible, and have an easy time collaborating. You have good communication skills and can collaborate with both internal and external partners.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
