Strategist for Regional Development Administration

Region Gävleborg has a government mandate to lead the work of regional development in the county. Our vision is an open, innovative, and sustainable Gävleborg, achieved through collaboration with community stakeholders at local, regional, and national levels.

We are now looking for someone who, together with us in the regional development administration, wants to contribute to strengthening and developing Gävleborg County. We are about 60 employees organized into three departments, and you will be placed in the department responsible for skills supply, business, and innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a strategist, you will work on development issues within the regional development mandate. In this role, you will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to plan, implement, and follow up on initiatives that contribute to Gävleborg's long-term development. The work is dynamic and varies over time based on the county's needs, allowing you to work proactively with strategic development issues and long-term change processes. You will also serve as a link between external stakeholders and Region Gävleborg's regional development funds.

As a strategist with us, you will:

• plan, coordinate, and lead projects, networks, and other initiatives within the regional development mandate
• manage regional development projects and, where applicable, handle and present political matters
• analyze and communicate statistics and reports as a basis for decisions and regional development initiatives
• communicate and disseminate results of the regional development work
• provide expert support in regional development and contribute to development processes, both internally and externally.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is structured, flexible, and has a good overall perspective in their role. You easily adapt to changing circumstances, see opportunities for development, and work solution-oriented. You thrive in collaboration with others but also take responsibility for independent tasks. The role requires you to plan, prioritize, and follow up on work in a methodical and effective manner. You have a good ability to build and maintain relationships and understand the importance of networks to drive development work. Experience working in and with established networks in relevant areas is an advantage, as collaboration is a central part of the strategist role.

In the role of strategist, you should have:

• relevant academic education or equivalent professional experience
• experience in regional development work at a strategic level or equivalent professional experience
• experience in handling matters in politically governed organizations and/or public administration
• good knowledge of regional development work and sustainability
• good knowledge of and experience in project and process management
• good ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.

For this position, it is advantageous if you have a B driver's license, as travel occurs in the position, primarily within the county.
