We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Luleå area is the northernmost part of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and includes the prisons in Luleå and Haparanda as well as the detention center in Luleå. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and more. In the prisons, the inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or the prison's wood production. You can easily reach the Luleå prison and detention center by public transport, and if you drive, you can park in our staff parking. The Haparanda prison is a five-minute walk from Haparanda station.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. The tasks at the prison are varied and include care, supervision, searches, and security work, combined with release planning, conversations, and motivational work. It is required that you, as a correctional officer, have the ability to create structure, security, and a respectful approach towards those you meet in your daily work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important to us. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since you will be working with your colleagues to run the operations, you need to have good teamwork skills and the ability to communicate clearly. Good judgment and integrity are required in your professional practice. We are each other's work environment, and therefore you should have good physical condition to be able to act physically when the situation requires it. We place great importance on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Please note that internships and volunteer work do not count as employment.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, or conflict management.
• Work experience from correctional services, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
• A valid driver’s license (B).
