Correctional Services is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transportation.

The Luleå area is Correctional Services' northernmost region and includes the prisons in Luleå and Haparanda as well as the detention center in Luleå. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and more. In the prisons, inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or the prison's wood production. You can easily reach the Luleå prison and detention center by public transport, and if you drive, you can park in our staff parking. The Haparanda prison is a five-minute walk from Haparanda station.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with the client. The tasks at the prison are varied and include care, monitoring, searches, and security work, combined with release planning, conversations, and motivational work. Work at the detention center is often routine-driven and focused on care and security tasks. Clients may sometimes be detained for long periods without meeting anyone other than the staff at the detention center, which places special demands on your ability to create structure, security, and a respectful approach in everyday life.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important to us. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since you, together with your colleagues, drive the operations, you need to have good collaboration skills and the ability to communicate clearly. Good judgment and integrity are required in your professional practice. We are each other's work environment, and therefore you have a good physical condition that enables you to act physically when the situation requires it. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for you who have:

• A completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that Correctional Services considers relevant.
• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Please note that internships and volunteer work are not classified as employment.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, or conflict management.
• Work experience from correctional services, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
• A valid driver's license (B).
