About the Position

We are now helping Tietoevry to find a TCU Tester (Telematic Control Unit) in Karlstad. The team currently consists of experienced engineers in both telecom and automotive, and there is now an opportunity for both junior and senior profiles to join.

The work involves testing and developing solutions for vehicle connectivity – focusing on radio modems, data communication, and network protocols. The role is practical and varied: from connecting hardware and building test environments, to developing test cases in Python and Robot Framework, as well as troubleshooting issues that arise in the field. Regardless of whether you have a background in telecom or automotive, a foundation in networking, data communication, and a strong interest in technology is what makes the difference.

This is a consultancy assignment, which means you will be employed by us at Maxitech for the first 12 months and work at our client’s site. After this period, there is an expectation that you will transition to a permanent position with the client.

Responsibilities

In the role of TCU Tester, you will:

  • Build and maintain test environments, including working with hardware and various communication devices.
  • Develop and execute test cases in Python and Robot Framework, and contribute to the improvement of test automation.
  • Troubleshoot and recreate error reports from vehicles in operation to find solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in the team and contribute to high-quality delivery to the client.

Your Profile

Must Have:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in a relevant field related to the position, within networking, telecom, automotive, etc.
  • Knowledge of data communication and routing.
  • Basic experience with Linux.
  • Programming in Python.
  • Experience with test automation in Robot Framework.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience from the telecom industry (mobile networks, radio technology, protocols) or automotive (vehicle systems, software architecture).
  • Java skills and experience with complex test environments.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting larger systems.

As a person, the candidate is curious, analytical, and solution-oriented. The role requires good collaboration skills, clear communication, and the ability to explain technical problems in a simple way.
