IT Specialist at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crises, heightened readiness, and war.
Do you want to help lead the effort to prepare all of Sweden? Then you could be our next colleague.
As an IT specialist, you will be part of the team in the IT infrastructure and network monitoring section within the unit for essential communication services. With us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to society's preparedness through the development of essential communication services such as WIS, SGSI, and Rakel. As an IT specialist, you will focus on operating systems and virtualization and be part of an exciting development journey within civil defense.
Your Responsibilities and Tasks
As an IT specialist focusing on operating systems and virtualization in essential communication services, you will primarily work on the development and planning of our service deliveries within Rakel, SGSI, WIS, and next-generation essential communication services.
Your tasks will include being responsible for the operation, management, and development of complex IT environments. Your focus will be on our virtual platforms and their underlying systems such as operating systems, services, and applications. Since these services are essential to society, the demands for security, availability, and robustness are high.
You will engage in dialogue with colleagues at the agency and other stakeholders to create the digital infrastructure needed to meet the communication requirements of future civil defense.
Your Skills and Competencies
We are looking for someone who has:
- several years of experience in the operation and management of operating systems in Microsoft and Linux-based environments.
- several years of experience in the operation and management of virtualized environments.

It is advantageous if you have:
- experience working with firewalls.
- experience with databases.
- experience in switching and routing.
- experience in storage.
- experience in backup solutions.
- experience in video communication solutions.
In all our work, both internally and externally, we act based on the state value framework. Like all employees and leaders, you are expected to act according to the agency's approach.
The approaches apply in everyday life, crisis, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaborative – proactive - action-oriented.

You remain calm, stable, and controlled in stressful situations, maintaining a realistic perspective on situations and focusing on the right things.
About the Employment
We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.
Your place of employment will be Karlstad or Stockholm, and travel may be required.
You will be part of an operations organization, and the work may eventually involve on-call duty. The agency has an obligation to fulfill on-call duty if necessary, with a maximum of seven days over a seven-week period.
The majority of our positions require placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required.
