Awake Night Assistance for 4-Year-Old Boy with Breathing Support – Årsta

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for a reliable and experienced person for awake night service for a 4-year-old boy with extensive breathing support at home. The boy lives with his parents in Årsta, and the work is carried out in close collaboration with the family. You will play a crucial role in creating security during the nights – both through technical care and gentle presence.

Achondroplasia is a congenital skeletal disorder and the most common form of dwarfism. It can affect breathing, especially during sleep, as narrower airways and reduced muscle tone can increase the risk of snoring or sleep apnea. Our child therefore needs nighttime supervision and some breathing monitoring for safe and secure sleep.

Job Responsibilities:

During the night, you will be responsible for monitoring the boy's breathing, well-being, and medical equipment. The tasks include:

• Monitoring and management of BiPAP – including program adjustments, mask changes, checking head straps/mask seals, responding to alarms or low/high saturation and pulse

• Use of Bitmos pulse oximeter and oxygen concentrators (three levels)

• Night supervision – including positioning to facilitate breathing, lifting from a low bed, and comforting during awakenings

• Mucus management – such as nasal rinsing, nasal spray, nasal toilet, and inhalation with saline or medication

• Comforting presence – holding the child in an upright position if needed

• Connecting and disconnecting equipment – when the child wakes up and falls back asleep (multiple times per night)

• Replacing defective parts and checking ventilation flow

This is a role for you who want to be a reliable point during the night and also have experience in handling advanced breathing equipment.

Personal chemistry is important, so we are looking for someone who is positive, stress-resistant, patient, and looks forward to becoming a significant part of our client's life. Experience in personal assistance or similar work is a plus, but the most important thing is that you are committed and secure in your role. Experience working with children with medical needs, preferably in home or hospital settings.

• Have good knowledge of BiPAP, pulse oximeters, oxygen, and breathing-related care

• Can handle being stress-resistant

• Is attentive, calm, and empathetic in contact with both children and parents

Meritorious:

• Certified nursing assistant training or equivalent competence

• Previous work with children with breathing issues

• Experience with awake nights within LSS, personal assistance, or pediatric care

Employment Rate: part-time - 80% - awake night

Salary: The hourly wage is fixed according to agreement and other compensations are made according to collective agreements.

Start Date: As soon as possible according to agreement, lasting as long as the assistance assignment lasts.
