Do you want a unique and exciting assignment?

Our high schools offer education for students with extensive needs for special support. At the high school in Uppsala, we offer the social science program (with a focus on social studies) as well as the introduction program individual alternative (IMA). We currently have an open position in music, home economics, and visual arts. We are looking for someone who is qualified in these subjects and has a strong interest in working with our target group. If you are qualified in all subjects, the position is full-time; otherwise, it is part-time (music 10%, home economics max 20%, visual arts approx. 50-70%).

About us

Magelungen Utveckling is an employee-owned company that offers qualified treatment and change work for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. Magelungen conducts treatment as well as resource schools at primary and secondary school levels. The goal is to create a context in the operations that is manageable, meaningful, and understandable.

Our aim is to provide an environment where all students can have a chance to succeed based on their conditions. Here in Uppsala, we organize ourselves according to actual needs and are a flexible and learning organization at all levels. We have a strongly anchored value base where, among other things, the equal value of all people is central, which in turn shapes our entire operation. We have a high staff density and an enhanced student health service consisting of occupational therapists, speech therapists, special educators (one with a trained therapy dog), special teachers in mathematics, school counselors, school nurses, school doctors, school psychologists, study and career counselors, assistant principals, and principals. At the school, there are also approximately 15 subject teachers, a school librarian, several resource educators/mentors, full-time mentors, and janitors/lunch hosts.

We are located in fully renovated premises at Rapsgatan 8 G since August 2023; before that, the school was located at Svederusgatan. We have science/technology/art rooms, a music room, a kitchen, a gymnasium, a training room/gym, a school library, several relaxation rooms, group rooms, and various-sized lounges in addition to classrooms. We also have a staff room centrally located in the school. The school has a yard with planting boxes, a basketball court, and benches to sit on. Parking spaces are available adjacent to the school.

About the position

You will plan and conduct teaching in music, home economics, and visual arts at IMA and in visual arts at the social science program. We have small teaching groups and a co-teaching system in the social science program in the first year, and there are two adults in each lesson in home economics and visual arts at IMA. You will work in a team with our craft educator in visual arts and in a team with a resource educator in home economics. Mentorship is not included in the position during the spring term, but it is an advantage if you have experience and interest in mentorship.

If you are licensed and qualified in all subjects, the position is 75-80%; otherwise, it is part-time, music 10%, home economics 15-20%, visual arts approx. 50%.

We are looking for someone who is qualified and has a teaching license and experience working as a teacher in schools. We are looking for someone who also has a strong interest in working with the target group and finds the tasks exciting. Furthermore, we seek someone who is a skilled educator, good at building relationships, self-driven, flexible, structured, creative, and able to think outside the box, as well as having good collaboration skills. It is advantageous if you have worked in introduction programs and in resource units or resource schools and/or with our target group previously.
