We are now looking for an engaged career and guidance counselor who wants to help develop and strengthen the guidance at Nannaskolan and Tunabergsskolan. The assignment is part of an ESF project aimed at increasing interest in vocational programs in high school. You will work closely with the schools' regular guidance counselors as well as with the coordinating counselor and administrator/practical training coordinator of the ESF project. Nannaskolan is a middle school for grades 7–9 and Uppsala's only aesthetic primary school. The aesthetic subjects offered by the school are music, dance, art & design, crafts, and drama. The school has one of Sweden's best school restaurants and is recognized at the top year after year. Nannaskolan collaborates with the Cultural School and Uppsala Aesthetic High School. We have several large events and even everyday life is filled with music, dance, and performances. It is an accepting atmosphere to express oneself. Tunabergsskolan has 570 students in grades 6-9 and has been in Uppsala for over 50 years. The school has very good results and works purposefully in various teams to develop our operations. At Tunabergsskolan, you will be met with joy and an open and welcoming climate. It is a school where everyone should be able to succeed. You will meet well-educated staff with long experience and great commitment to creating conditions for students' success. You will be placed at Tunabergsskolan and share a room and have the opportunity to collaborate with the primary school's guidance coordinator for the ESF project as well as with the project's administrator and practical training coordinator.

An ESF project is a development project funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) – the EU's primary tool for strengthening employment, skills development, and social inclusion in member states. Uppsala Municipality has been granted funds to work on the attractiveness of vocational programs until 2028-08-25.

Job Description

In the role of career and guidance counselor with a special guidance assignment within the framework of the ESF project, you will:

• Collaborate with the regular guidance counselors at Nannaskolan and Tunabergsskolan as well as with the project-responsible guidance function within the ESF project.
• Coordinate, develop, and make information about vocational training and possible career paths available to students in primary school and their guardians, with a particular focus on increasing knowledge about high school vocational programs at Nannaskolan and Tunabergsskolan.
• Coordinate, evaluate, and support Nannaskolan's and Tunabergsskolan's efforts focusing on high school vocational programs, including the activities planned within the ESF project.
• Work to reach out to students who lack knowledge about vocational training and give them the opportunity to find interest through information and in-depth collaboration with vocational high schools and industry representatives.
• Work to ensure that initiatives aimed at increasing interest in vocational programs are spread and shared with other guidance functions, for example through the guidance network, to strengthen equitable guidance within the municipality.
• Collaborate with high schools to enable practical training in vocational programs and other student-centered activities related to the goals of the ESF project.
• Map the attitudes of Nannaskolan's and Tunabergsskolan's students and guardians towards vocational programs, analyze the results, and contribute to the project's follow-up and development.

The assignment is a fixed-term employment, with a start date according to agreement and employment until 2028-08-30.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has completed a career and guidance counselor program or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position. If you have experience working at a vocational high school, it is considered an advantage. As a person, you are empathetic and can quickly understand someone else's perspective or situation. Furthermore, you are flexible and see opportunities in changes. You take initiative and start activities to achieve results. We also see that you are creative and often come up with ideas and new approaches to work-related issues. Additionally, you are good at persuading and influencing to achieve results.
