Foster Care Secretary to the Foster Care Unit 2

Job Responsibilities

The Foster Care operation in Hisingen works with recruitment, investigation, training, and supervision of caregivers: foster homes, emergency homes, support families, and contact persons.

The operation consists of two unit managers responsible for their respective units, four senior social workers, approximately 26 foster care secretaries, and four administrators. We are now looking for an additional colleague for unit 2 who will work with a focus on foster homes where children are placed for permanent residence.

Our operation has a prioritized and active effort to ensure that foster care is of good quality, to secure the situation of the placed children, and to ensure that our foster homes receive the support they need.

Your main task will be to investigate prospective foster homes and to supervise and support foster homes in ongoing placements. You will also handle contracts and finances. A large part of the work involves collaboration and cooperation, both internally and externally. We want to give new colleagues a warm welcome, and it is important for us that you feel included as a newcomer. We have close access to both the unit manager and the senior social workers who have extensive experience in foster care and know what we have to manage in our assignments.

The work is conducted during daytime hours. Some flexibility is needed as we sometimes visit and meet our foster homes in the evening. Shorter and longer trips are also part of the job. You will receive continuous training on how to support and supervise foster homes as well as external supervision.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another higher education that the employer deems equivalent, as well as a genuine interest in working with the target group of children and families. Extensive experience in social work with children, youth, and families is a requirement. Previous experience in foster care is an advantage. You need to be well acquainted with current legislation and regulations within the relevant area of operation. Specific training in the foster care area, such as the Kälvesten method, is advantageous.

Furthermore, you have a systemic, solution-focused, and coaching approach to your work. In your work, you are relationship-building and possess a good ability to create trusting relationships. You enjoy collaborating, both within your own organization and with other partners.

It is of great importance that you, as an applicant, are secure, stable, and have a good ability for self-insight. You are responsible and have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. The work also requires good reflection and analytical skills.

You show respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role and have the best interests of the organization and users in focus. You base your work on the principle of equal value for all and create a good atmosphere in meetings. Since the work involves a lot of communication and documentation, it is important that you can express yourself well in the Swedish language, both verbally and in writing. A driver's license (B) is a requirement as we drive a lot in the job.

The Social Administration of Hisingen is part of the social services in the City of Gothenburg. We are one of four social administrations. We work purposefully to create a better everyday life for the residents of Hisingen.
