Project Assistant in the Research Project: In the Shadow of the Legal Process

Project Assistant in the Research Project: In the Shadow of the Legal Process – A Study on Children's Experiences of Parental Custody Disputes
We are now seeking a project assistant in legal sociology.
The applicant will work on a project that investigates how children and adolescents with parents in custody disputes experience the legal process that begins when a parent files a lawsuit in the district court regarding custody, residence, and visitation. The focus is on highlighting the perspectives and experiences of children and adolescents, a perspective that is often lacking both in research and in efforts to promote children's rights.
The study is conducted using qualitative semi-structured interviews with 36 children in 12 municipalities across Sweden.
In addition to working on a knowledge overview, the project assistant will also participate in the interviews. Other tasks relevant to the project may also occur.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in legal sociology or equivalent
- Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
Applicants should have the following skills and experience:
- Experience in empirical research in the field of legal sociology, with an emphasis on conducting interviews with children and youth.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate and cooperate with various stakeholders.
- Experience in conducting research overviews.
The position is temporary for 5 months with a workload of 30%.

Legal sociology at Lund University is a social science subject that studies the relationship between law and society, such as the tension between the state's formal legislation and informal norm formation in, for example, civil society. Research is conducted in fields such as gender and discrimination, AI and machine learning, children's rights, welfare, legal cultures, corruption, migration, economic security, and crime. The department offers courses at all levels. The department also runs the bachelor's program in criminology in collaboration with the Department of Sociology. The Department of Legal Sociology strives to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries and has good contacts with practitioners and authorities.
