Job Responsibilities

In your role as an outreach employment officer in the "Uppsök Ung Malmö" initiative, you will work to establish contact and relationships with "young adults" aged 18-29 who are unemployed or not in education. The purpose of the outreach work is to increase accessibility, inform about the existence of Ung Malmö, and what support can be offered. The assignment largely involves building relationships with youth based on voluntariness, trust, and respect, as well as identifying what interventions are needed for those in our target group to establish contact with relevant authorities to eventually come closer to jobs and education.

As an outreach employment officer, your main task is to provide on-site service in the form of guidance, coaching, information, etc., and also work to increase interaction with other actors who meet youth who are neither working nor studying in the city. Since part of the initiative's goal is to reach out to the target group and "be where the target group is," the assignment includes working with social media, participating in photography and film, and contributing to the development of our communication channels and selection of relevant media. We will also focus on creating better structure, continuity, and sustainable strategies for outreach work, directed both towards the city's operations and external actors, as well as increased collaboration.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A university degree of at least 180 credits in behavioral science or social science, or another university degree of at least 180 credits combined with relevant work experience as assessed by the employer.
  • Experience in relationship-building work aimed at youth living in vulnerable situations.
  • Experience collaborating with civil society and other actors working with the current target group.

Desirable:

  • Experience in work involving motivational/coaching conversations, preferably focused on youth.
  • Experience in social work, preferably with a focus on youth.
  • Experience in field-based work.
  • Experience in organizing campaigns and various events aimed at youth.
  • Language skills beyond Swedish and English that the employer deems relevant based on the operation and target group.

The outreach work is based on gaining the trust of youth and creating relationships on a voluntary basis. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is outgoing and has a good ability and interest in establishing contact with those in our target group and building and maintaining relationships. The work requires a good ability to meet each youth in their specific situation and to work towards establishing "person continuity" in the environments where our target group is present.

As a person, you are secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. You need to have good collaboration skills and be socially active in professional contexts. It is also important that you have a professional and positive attitude and demeanor in your work, high integrity, and a good ability to distinguish between "personal and private" in the work of establishing contact and building relationships with those in our target group who wish to avoid adult oversight.

To succeed in the role, you need to be comfortable taking your own initiatives and independently structuring and driving your work. You need to have a good ability to adapt your communication to the recipient in both speech and writing. You act in accordance with decisions made and are responsible for ensuring that the assignment meets established goals and purposes within given frameworks. The work also requires that you are flexible and adaptive and can quickly create a comprehensive picture of the young person's situation with respect for their integrity and that you act in accordance with decisions made and take personal responsibility for achieving established goals within our frameworks.

In this recruitment, great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

The work includes evening and weekend work based on the needs of the operation.

About the Workplace

The initiative targets young people who currently do not have any established contact with authorities. This involves close collaboration with parties who come into contact with the target group. Through outreach activities, we will connect with the youth, and the idea is that they will eventually be enrolled in the regular Ung Malmö operations where they are offered interventions to strengthen their position in the labor market and transition to work or education.
