O.B. Wiik AB is now looking for a designer who wants to work in a technically demanding and business-oriented role focusing on design, calculations, and technical solutions for halls and weather protection. The role is central in the organization and means that you will act as technical support to the sales team to ensure that the right solutions are developed, dimensioned correctly, and are producible.

Responsibilities

In the role of designer, you will work on producing technical documentation for both standard and customized solutions. This includes static calculations, weight estimates, and dimensioning based on snow zones, wind loads, and other conditions. You will be responsible for drawing documentation, building permit drawings, and technical solutions for, for example, door placements, transitions, and other constructive adaptations during the sales process. Small changes in the design can have a significant impact, so preventive assessment and careful calculations are a crucial part of the work.

Once the deal is won, you will produce complete technical documentation and order lists that form the basis for purchasing and production with external manufacturers in Europe. You are a key person who ensures that the constructions meet applicable requirements and that the solutions work both on paper and during assembly.

• The work is characterized by varying complexity, from quick technical check-ins to more advanced investigations of new or deviating solutions. In this role, you will report to the sales manager.

• The work includes static calculations, weight estimates, and dimensioning based on snow zones, wind loads, and other applicable requirements.

• Responsible for producing drawing documentation, sketches, and building permit drawings.

• Work with constructive adaptations such as door solutions, transitions, and modifications of existing models.

• Ensure that technical solutions are producible and meet both customer requirements and regulations.

• Produce technical documentation and order lists for purchasing and production with external manufacturers in Europe.

• Be a key person between sales, purchasing, and project management.

• The work varies from quick technical assessments to more advanced investigations and calculations.

Education, experience, and personal qualities

• Engineering degree in construction, design, or equivalent.

• Experience in static calculations and producing reaction forces.

• Experience in producing drawings and technical documentation for building permits.

• Experience in technical calculations and design of tent halls and/or steel halls is an advantage.

• Knowledge of programs such as Tekla Structures, STAADPro, Cold Beam, Section, and/or Trimble Connect is an advantage.

• Driving license B.

• Fluent in Swedish in both spoken and written form.

To succeed in this role, you need to be analytical and technically curious with the ability to understand how different choices affect the whole. You have a structured and meticulous working style, while you can make decisions even when conditions change rapidly.

You are solution-oriented, self-driven, and enjoy working closely with sales and other functions, where you contribute with security and clarity in technical matters. The role requires flexibility and stress resistance, as the work pace can vary and questions often need to be handled at short notice. You have integrity and the courage to speak up when a solution is not technically sustainable and are motivated by doing things right from the start and contributing to high quality, safety, and long-term sustainable solutions.
