Childcare Worker at Saltängen School

Do you want to work at a small, family-oriented, and well-functioning school with a safe and personal working environment and close collaboration between after-school care and teachers? Do you thrive in a creative and engaged after-school team where well-being, community, and students' social development are always in focus? Then apply for the role of childcare worker at Saltängen School! The position is a permanent full-time employment starting as soon as possible or by agreement.

Your Mission

In the role of childcare worker, you primarily work with students in grade 3. Together with teachers and the after-school team, you create a cohesive, safe, and developing school day. In close collaboration, you plan and structure the day with the goal of providing students with the best possible teaching and learning.

During the school day, you are a present, active, and supportive educator in the classroom, in smaller teaching groups, and during breaks. After school hours, you share responsibility for the after-school activities. You are part of the after-school team, consisting of a primary teacher in after-school care, three resource educators, and two other childcare workers. In close collaboration, you plan, implement, and evaluate activities based on established guidelines. You work on the premise that after-school care is part of the school's teaching, where activities have a clear educational purpose and are linked to the school's themes and focus areas. Together, you create a safe, inspiring, and stimulating environment where students' social and educational development is in focus, while activities are adapted to their interests, needs, and conditions.

Your mission also includes actively contributing to the school's systematic quality work and developing the after-school care's teaching. Opening and closing the after-school care is part of the job.

Your Experience

For this position, you are required to have:

  • high school or post-secondary education as a childcare worker or equivalent
  • several years of experience working as a childcare worker in after-school care
  • experience working in a school with students in primary education
  • experience working with students in need of extra adjustments and special support
  • good digital competence with experience using digital educational tools
  • good ability to express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing.

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • experience participating in the development and quality work of after-school care
  • experience leading colleagues and the educational work within after-school care
  • experience working with students with NPF diagnoses.

Is this you?

To succeed in this role, you need to be a stable, secure, and professional person with both the interest and ability to create good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You are a solution-focused person who takes initiative both in the classroom and in after-school activities, always with the students' and the organization's best interests in mind. You work independently, take responsibility for your mission, and structure your work effectively, with a good ability to adapt to changing conditions. As an adult in the students' social lives, you demonstrate good judgment in statements, actions, and decisions, as well as in interactions with students and guardians. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
