The Competence Center for Multilingualism works to ensure that students receive instruction in their mother tongue as well as study guidance in their strongest language. Today, there are 38 languages represented within the organization. We work both with municipal principals and individuals.

We are looking for a mother tongue teacher in Saho.

Employment Type

Fixed-term employment, starting as soon as possible, according to agreement, part-time approximately 10% but the extent may change based on upcoming needs, until 2025-06-11.

Job Responsibilities

The job as a mother tongue teacher is a mobile position governed by student demand. It requires the teacher to travel to different schools within the municipality - both centrally and to the municipality's peripheral schools to meet the students. The following different tasks may be included in the position as a mother tongue teacher: Mother tongue instruction, study guidance, remote teaching, remote guidance, and support to the Reception Unit Hej Umeå as a language supporter.

Study Guidance

Study guidance means that you can have students in grades 1-9 as well as in the Language Introduction program in high school. Study guidance can take place before, during, or after the student's lesson time. You will work closely with the student's mentor and subject teachers who plan and conduct the lesson, while you support in the mother tongue to help the student achieve knowledge in various school subjects. You are flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances.

You should also provide support in the reception of newly arrived children and students, which includes information meetings, onboarding support, direct support, and mapping the knowledge of newly arrived students.

Qualifications

You have Saho as your mother tongue, documented language skills in this, Swedish B/Swedish 2, and demonstrated very good digital skills. You have a teaching degree, Swedish or foreign, or other pedagogical experience. If you have documented knowledge of several languages, it is an advantage.

You are creative, independent, flexible, and stress-resistant. You are curious and want to develop and grow. As a person, you find it easy to connect with both staff and children and guardians. You should have good collaboration skills, be a good listener, and be able to communicate and handle different situations constructively. You take responsibility for your tasks and are accommodating in your approach.

We would like you to attach a personal letter and CV written in Swedish. If you have a teaching license, please attach it. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Due to the law on suitability checks, an extract from the police criminal record must be presented upon employment.
