Section Leader for the Emergency Department and Acute Care Unit in Köping
Are you a nurse looking to take the next step in your career with a leadership position? We are seeking a section leader for the Emergency Department and Acute Care Unit in Köping, where you will work alongside our unit managers, section leaders, and staff to lead and drive the operations forward!
Job Responsibilities
The role of section leader with us involves managing staff and planning based on staffing and operational needs. You will work 50% as a section leader and the remaining time in clinical practice.
Responsibilities and tasks included in the role are:
- Close collaboration with unit managers and other units within the medical clinic
- Updating and implementing routines and guidelines
- Assessing training and development needs in the operation
- Participating in APT (workplace meetings), other meetings, and planning and development days together with the unit manager
- Schedule planning and daily management
- Participating in systematic work environment efforts and promoting a good work environment.
As a section leader, you will replace the unit manager in their absence and represent the operation in various contexts. You are also well-informed about the issues at hand, working towards high patient safety, accessibility, and continuous improvement of care quality.
About the Workplace
With us, you will encounter a wide variety of patients with a broad and stimulating range of medical conditions. Our operation consists of two units that staff rotate between, the Emergency Department and the Acute Care Unit. We have about 65 employees, and the leadership role is shared between two people. You will share your role with other section leaders.
The Emergency Department is an adult medical emergency reception where we receive one-third of all residents in Västmanland, approximately 10,000 patients per year. In the Emergency Department, you will be part of a team that receives patients and is their first point of contact. Triage is based on RETTS. As we are an emergency department, we accept all patients. Prioritizing, referring, and ensuring safe transport to other clinics are part of our work. We also act as an emergency response team for various hospital operations. Adjacent to the emergency department, there is also an on-call reception in the evenings and weekends that we have a good collaboration with, receiving about 2,000 patients per year.
We are open days and evenings, every day of the year, giving you the opportunity for great variation in your working hours.
The Acute Care Unit cares for patients with various acute conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, sepsis, and intoxications. This is more of a ward-like work environment but with a high level of monitoring and advanced medical technology such as CPAP, OptiFlow, and Bilevel. You will work in a multidisciplinary team where your role is central to the patient's well-being. The variation in tasks and pace allows you to develop both medically and in your professional judgment.
At Köping Hospital, you are welcomed to a workplace with a familiar and open work climate. The operation is large enough to provide good experience and treat common medical conditions, yet small enough for you as an individual employee to be recognized and feel at home throughout the clinic.
It is important to us that you feel good and enjoy your job; therefore, we offer you:
- Customized introductory program to help you feel secure in your professional role
- Opportunities for professional development through internal training
- A workplace for different stages of life, with flexible working hours within certain frameworks
- Free access to our fully equipped gym
- Health and wellness allowance of 3000 SEK/year

As a person, you have a good ability to communicate and collaborate. You can work flexibly and handle sudden events and situations in the unit. You should be solution-oriented, able to prioritize, and organize work based on the needs of the operation. We want you to have a positive attitude towards changes and development work. You enjoy developing and contributing to the development of your colleagues in the unit.
