Description

We are now looking for an engaged and service-oriented operations engineer for the business area Electricity Networks at Karlstad Energy – a community-supporting operation with an important role in the green transition.

In the operations unit, we combine modern technology with deep expertise and experience to create the best possible operation, management, and planning of the electricity network. The operations unit consists of eight dedicated colleagues with different areas of expertise, and you will work closely with other departments within the Electricity Networks business area. This gives you a broad overall picture, good development opportunities, and the chance to really make a difference.

Responsibilities

As an operations engineer at Karlstad Energy, you will have a varied and stimulating role where you are responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and efficient electricity supply for the residents of Karlstad. Your daily work will involve a mix of operational management, outage planning, and development of maintenance programs for all parts of the electricity network, from low-voltage networks at 0.4 kV up to high voltage at 130 kV.

You will be involved in setting requirements for customer connections, providing technical support to colleagues, and contributing to internal development and investment projects that strengthen the network's capacity and long-term sustainability. The role also includes regulatory reporting and may eventually involve you being part of our emergency organization as the on-duty engineer, where your contribution is crucial to ensuring high availability in the electricity network around the clock.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an electrical engineering degree or equivalent work experience that we consider comparable. To succeed in the role, it is advantageous to have at least three years of experience in similar tasks and a good technical understanding. You are familiar with computers and have a good command of the Office suite, which facilitates your daily work and enables effective collaboration with colleagues and external contacts.

Experience from regional networks, operations, and troubleshooting within electricity network distribution, work with control equipment and remote control, selective plans, as well as preparation, design, or project management within electricity networks is particularly meritorious. Completed training in ESA and relevant EBR is also seen as valuable assets in the role.

As an operations engineer at Karlstad Energy, you are expected to take great responsibility for your work and show both commitment and initiative. You have good social skills and can build and maintain strong relationships both within the team and with external partners. The role requires you to be flexible, methodical, and able to handle situations with multiple simultaneous activities without compromising accuracy. You thrive in a role where independence is combined with teamwork and see collaboration as a key to success.

A valid driver's license B is required, and good Swedish and English in both spoken and written form is necessary. A six-month probationary period may be applied.
