Junior Automation Engineer

ABOUT THE POSITION
In the role of automation engineer, you will work with the entire machine construction process, from the early design stage to the commissioning of the finished machine, thus being involved in the entire flow. In this role, you will be a key player in a small team striving to deliver high-quality and efficient solutions to customers worldwide. You will be welcomed into a team with great competence and experience in the field, providing good conditions for a solid introduction.
This role has great potential for development and is a perfect opportunity for you who have previously worked as a machine operator and want to use your practical skills to take the next step in your career, or for you who are a recent graduate in automation engineering. Of course, we also welcome applications from those with prior industry experience.
You will be based in the office in Karlstad, and travel occurs a couple of times a year. These trips usually last 3–6 weeks at a time for work on-site with customers around the world – mainly in Europe and North America, for example, for commissioning and checkout.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks
- Participate in the design phase of projects – translating electrical and hydraulic diagrams into machine layouts
- Create material lists and contribute to the purchasing process
- Work with PLC, HMI, and DCS systems
- Participate in assembly, testing, and commissioning, as well as solve technical problems on-site with customers
WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU WHO
- Has a strong technical interest and is practically inclined
- Has a basic understanding of how machines work, e.g., from education or from operator or maintenance work
- Is willing to travel for work, even for longer trips
- Speaks and writes fluently in Swedish and English as customers are international
It is an advantage if you have:
- Education in automation
- Experience with CAD tools such as Catia
- Knowledge of HMI and DCS systems for process automation

In this role, self-leadership is important, and taking responsibility for ensuring that your tasks are performed with good quality, even in situations where multiple tasks need to be juggled. The role involves a high degree of collaboration with both colleagues and customers with varying levels of expertise, so being relationship-building and communicative is important.

- Start: Immediately according to agreement
- Location: Office in Karlstad, travel occurs regularly
- Employment: The role starts as a consulting assignment where you will be employed by Academic Work. The need is long-term, and there are good prospects for permanent employment with our client in the future.
- Other: A health examination to be approved for work in customers' operations will be part of the process
