The Authority for Psychological Defense safeguards the open and democratic society and free opinion formation by identifying, analyzing, and countering undue information influence and other misleading information directed against Sweden or Swedish interests.
The authority is led by a director general and has approximately 75 employees.
The headquarters is located in Karlstad, with an additional office in Solna. The administrative department consists of twelve people and is responsible for finance, legal affairs, HR, archives and registration, reception, maintenance, and IT support. The department is led by the administrative manager.
As the authority grows, we need to strengthen our legal support. We are now looking for a lawyer to Karlstad.
Responsibilities
Together with the authority's chief legal officer, you will contribute to ensuring that the authority's operations are conducted in a legally secure manner. As a lawyer, you will assist managers and other employees at the authority with legal expertise and investigative work. You will provide support during the authority's procurements and in matters concerning data protection and personal data processing. The position involves many contacts both within and outside the authority, and you will collaborate with other actors within the total defense.
Your responsibilities will include:
- drafting and quality assuring decisions and other documents,
- handling cases regarding the disclosure of public documents,
- managing referrals,
- drafting and updating governing documents, and
- drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements.
You will also conduct internal training in the legal field and follow legal developments in public law.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- a law degree or equivalent legal education from a university or college
- at least five years of experience in qualified legal work within public administration
- very good knowledge of administrative law as well as public access and confidentiality.
Experience of legal work from a government agency is an advantage.

About the employment
The employment is permanent full-time and may begin with a probationary period, placement at the headquarters in Karlstad.
We conduct a security review with a background check according to the provisions of the Security Protection Act. In some cases, Swedish citizenship is required. The authority is part of Sweden's total defense, and the position therefore entails military placement.
