Investigator at MSB

MSB works for a safer society in a changing world. We strengthen Sweden's ability to function in crises and even war. This means that all our employees contribute to a country where people are prepared: From north to south, we spread knowledge and act to protect lives and health, the functionality of society, and fundamental values such as democracy, the rule of law, and human rights.

Do you want to make a difference and work with us for a safer society? Then you might be our next colleague!

MSB is working to develop civil defense to create a resilient society for crises and war.

An important part of this work is personnel supply, meaning that relevant actors have staffing to maintain operations that need to function for total defense.

We are now looking for an investigator to work with these issues at the unit for personnel supply and community planning. The unit is part of the department for crisis preparedness and civil defense, which works to direct, plan, and finance preparedness development.

Your responsibilities and tasks

As an investigator, you will drive development forward to support actors' planning work with personnel supply, as well as overarching system issues regarding, for example, the regulations for personnel supply and the introduction of civil duty in areas decided by the government. MSB collaborates broadly with our various target groups: central authorities, county administrative boards, municipalities, regions, businesses, and non-profit organizations.

You will be part of a working group that works with personnel supply within civil defense. The tasks are varied and involve analytical and investigative tasks, regulatory work, and practical coordination of processes and activities. This may include leading meetings with external actors, developing and conducting training sessions, lecturing in various contexts, and organizing webinars. You will represent MSB in internal and external contexts.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

  • relevant academic education
  • experience working with crisis preparedness and civil defense
  • at least five years of work within public administration
  • experience coordinating activities and processes with many involved stakeholders
  • experience giving presentations, workshops, and leading meetings
  • good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish

It is meritorious if you have:

  • good understanding of, and knowledge about, personnel supply within the preparedness area.
  • experience working within a preparedness authority
  • experience leading development work within public administration

Like all employees and leaders with us, you are expected to work in a task-oriented, development-focused, dialogue-oriented manner, have good self-awareness, and contribute by being a role model.

As a person, you are solution-oriented and attentive. You are structured, responsible, and enjoy working in a complex, evolving environment. You also function well in a varied job with a high pace of development and many ongoing activities.

About the employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your place of employment will be Karlstad or Stockholm, and travel is required in the position.

Swedish citizenship is a requirement for employment at MSB as it involves placement in a security class. For employment, a satisfactory result in the security review with a background check is required, conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act.

About us

At the unit for personnel supply and community planning, we are 13 employees, and we are located in both Karlstad and Stockholm.

We have an activity-based office where you can choose your workplace according to your needs. You also have the option to work remotely.

We also offer you the opportunity to take out wellness hours, and you also receive a wellness allowance. For you as a government employee, there are also favorable vacation conditions.

All of us who work at MSB are expected to and should contribute to increased gender equality and equal treatment for a work environment and a society free from discrimination.
