Operating Nurse at Orthopedic Surgery
Are you an operating nurse looking for a stimulating job in an exciting environment, where you can work at the top of your competence? Then you should apply to us at Orthopedic Surgery!
You are offered
- internal training, such as new surgical techniques, implants, medical equipment, our patient flows, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- external training that supports your continued professional development
- own areas of responsibility within the unit and participation in working groups that contribute to the development of our function
- rotation to other units or specialties based on interest and operational needs
- the possibility of recruitment housing for up to one year for those not residing in the Stockholm area.
Of course, you will also benefit from the general benefits that Karolinska University Hospital offers you.
About the position
At Orthopedic Surgery, we primarily conduct major, extensive orthopedic procedures. Many of our emergency surgeries involve multi-trauma patients, which means they have both high- and low-energy fractures in extremities, the spine, pelvis, and hip fractures. The other patients who are operated on with us come from the patient flows of orthopedic trauma, musculoskeletal tumors, spinal diseases, as well as arthroplasty and extremity deformities.
As an operating nurse with us, you will have a job where no workday is the same. The entire team helps each other, and we have a wonderful and familial atmosphere among nursing assistants, nurses, anesthesiologists, and orthopedic surgeons.
The operating rooms are large and equipped with the latest technology. Support within the unit also includes an operating nurse with logistics and sterilization responsibility, a staffing assistant, a care leader, and a manager who is an operating nurse and often available in daily operations.
As we are part of a university hospital, mentoring students and eventually new colleagues is a natural part of the job.
The position involves day, evening, and weekend shifts every 5th weekend. Our operating rooms are open every day of the year, but not during the night. We apply fixed schedules but are open to individual requests.
We are looking for someone who
- has a burning interest in our specialty and wants the biggest challenges in orthopedics
- can easily adapt to changing circumstances, quickly change perspectives and attitudes, and see opportunities in changes
- works well with others and relates to them in a responsive and smooth manner. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively
- sees the whole picture and considers the larger perspective. You understand your role but act in the best interest of the entire operation in your actions and decisions
- plans, organizes, and prioritizes work effectively. You set and adhere to timelines.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Licensed nurse with specialized training in operating room nursing
Meritorious:
Experience in orthopedics.
