Committed Nursing Assistant Wanted for Temporary Position

We are now looking for a committed nursing assistant for a temporary position of 100% until March 31, 2027.

Your Workplace

In the department, you will work with elderly patients with multiple illnesses, aged 65 and above. The patients come from various specialties and require inpatient care. We receive patients from the Central Hospital in Karlstad, health centers in eastern Värmland, ambulances, and Karlskoga Hospital. We also have a close collaboration with the Home Care Team in Kristinehamn, which can admit patients to us.

We have two care teams where we work person-centered in teams around the patient. We work closely with the department's nurses as well as with the department's rehabilitation staff, a physiotherapist, and an occupational therapist, to provide the best possible care for the patient.

The rehabilitation staff works about 50% in the department. Currently, we have recurring locum doctors from Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00. We are working towards having a permanent doctor in the future who wants to help drive home care forward.

During on-call hours, we turn to the Central Hospital Karlstad for medical consultation over the phone. During the day, Monday to Friday, laboratory and radiology services are available in-house.

Once a year, we undergo training in CPR and patient transfer, and we have two full-day training sessions together in connection with vacations. Opportunities for job shadowing are available, and our goal is for all employees to receive further education in the most common medical conditions that our patients have.

For us, everyone's well-being and health are important, and we always try to organize various activities outside of work to promote group cohesion.

Your Responsibilities

Your tasks include close nursing care, monitoring, sample collection, dressing changes, and documentation. What distinguishes our department from acute care departments is that patients less frequently need to go for examinations. With us, we work closely together, and nursing assistants document alongside nurses to get a complete picture of the patient.

You will work in bright and fresh facilities. There are single rooms and double rooms with space for assistive devices, which are plentiful. It is a safe environment, and many of us are very experienced. We promote maintaining a calm pace and adapting care to each individual. All employees are hired on a mixed schedule (day, evening, and night), but consideration is given to all employees' preferences when scheduling.

We have a “laundry room schedule” and create our own schedule over a period of 11 weeks at a time. At night, we always have one nurse and one nursing assistant on duty.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for someone who is a nursing assistant, preferably with experience in acute care. You are responsible, flexible, and have good teamwork skills. You enjoy working with people, focus on the patient's best interests, and care about seeing the whole picture in the care process. To succeed in this role, we see that you are independent and take responsibility, have good collaboration skills, see the whole picture in the care process, and work systematically to plan and organize your work effectively.
