At the Adult Psychiatric Reception 1 in Västerås, you as a psychologist will have a meaningful and varied assignment where you contribute to good care for patients with mental health issues.
Job Responsibilities
As a psychologist with us, you will work with psychological assessments, investigations, and treatments, both individually and in groups. You are part of our interdisciplinary team and collaborate closely with doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and administrative staff. The work involves both independent and joint efforts in team planning, development of patient flows, and daily reception work. We meet patients with a wide range of psychiatric issues, where treatment is conducted both individually and in established group formats such as UP group, STAIR group, and ADHD step 2. We are also in the process of developing digital treatment in the form of I-CBT.

About the Workplace
The Adult Psychiatric Reception 1 is part of the specialist psychiatry in Region Västmanland and caters to patients in Västerås, Surahammar, and Hallstahammar who need specialist psychiatric care. We work in two teams and receive patients based on their birth dates to create a cohesive and well-functioning care chain. The reception is characterized by openness, collaboration, and a respectful approach where different professions complement each other. New as a Psychologist
For you who are a newly licensed psychologist, we offer a two-year competence package to provide you with a smoother transition between the role of PTP psychologist and licensed psychologist.
The competence package includes:
- Practice-specific course
- Participation in a national/nordic congress
- Observation in primary care, habilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, or forensic psychiatry (a total of five days)
- Opportunity to take a supervisor training in year 2
- Personal follow-up by an experienced psychologist
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist. You who are completing or are about to start PTP, or have a decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare regarding PTP eligibility, are also welcome to apply; the decision needs to be attached to the application. Experience in inpatient care and ERGT therapy is an advantage. Experience in psychological treatment and investigation work, work as a psychologist, and knowledge in social psychiatry or psychiatric care are also merits. It is an advantage if you have a psychology degree with a CBT focus, psychotherapy training level II, or experience with Cosmic. For the role, good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing as well as basic computer skills are required.
In this role, you need to have a structured and quality-conscious working method as well as a good ability to work both independently and in a team. You are stable and can maintain calm and focus even in pressured situations. You show empathetic ability and a professional approach, and you actively contribute to a respectful and constructive work climate. Personal maturity and responsibility are important parts of the role.
Employment Conditions
The position is a permanent full-time employment.
Start date in spring 2026 or by agreement.
