Social Worker in Financial Support

Do you want to work supporting individuals receiving financial assistance on their path to self-sufficiency – in a role where structure, analysis, and independent decision-making are central? As a social worker in financial support, you will be responsible for investigations and assessments according to current legislation, while also working with the individual to find ways forward. Here, you will be part of a team that values both accuracy and development.

YOUR ROLE

As a social worker with us, you will investigate and assess people's right to financial assistance. You will investigate each case based on current legislation, make structured assessments, and make independent decisions with full delegation.

But the assignment goes further than that. Together with the individual, you will explore ways to strengthen their resources. In this role, you will be an important link between the client and other actors – such as the Employment Service, labor market unit, healthcare, the Social Insurance Agency, and other community services.

Even though you have independent responsibility for your own cases, you are never alone. You are part of a team that works closely together with regular team meetings, supervision, and case discussions, where you collectively support and develop the work. Additionally, there are two unit managers available to provide accessible and present leadership.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

You have a degree in social work and good knowledge of the Social Services Act (SoL), which is necessary for making secure and legally sound assessments. Experience in public authority work within social services – preferably related to financial assistance – is meritorious. Experience working with individuals who have harmful use, dependency, or neuropsychiatric diagnoses is also valuable.

The work involves close contacts with actors within the state, municipality, and region, so you need to enjoy collaborating across organizational boundaries. Your collaborative nature contributes to a good climate in the team, takes shared responsibility, and finds ways forward that maintain high quality in both work and support to the individual. You work closely with the individual in the process towards self-sufficiency and always meet people with respect and based on their circumstances.

You are structured and can plan your work well and keep order even when the pace increases. You also have an analytical ability that allows you to quickly understand complex information, see connections, and make well-considered assessments. At the same time, you are confident in yourself and stand firm even when situations are challenging. In this role, you will make decisions that affect people's daily lives — sometimes even when the decisions are not easy or entirely comfortable. In such situations, you can be both clear and professional while maintaining attentiveness, calmness, and care in your interactions.

You are accustomed to working in digital environments and have a good ability to handle multiple digital systems simultaneously. You also have excellent communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish, with the ability to formulate legally sound decisions and adapt your communication to the recipient's circumstances.

A valid driver's license (B) is required, as travel within the municipality occurs in connection with follow-up and planning.

YOUR NEW WORKPLACE

At the Individual and Family Services, we work to improve people's living situations. We provide support, protection, and guidance – always with respect for the individual's responsibility and integrity. Here, you will meet colleagues who, with courage, care, and collaboration, make a real difference for both children, youth, and adults in Skellefteå.

As a social worker in the financial support unit, you will be part of an engaged team of 32 employees who work either with investigations or implementation. Currently, it is not determined which direction this position will be tied to, but regardless, you will have a role where your work makes a concrete difference in people's daily lives.

Your workplace is located in the activity-based section of the City Hall in Skellefteå, and the position applies annual working hours.

GOOD TO KNOW

We recruit based on competence and focus on your experience, knowledge, and potential. Instead of a personal letter, you will answer some selection questions and attach an updated CV. Psychological tests are used as part of the recruitment process. The preliminary selection is expected to take place in week 3 and interviews in week 4.
