Recreation Leader Assistant for Umeå Municipality's Meeting Places

We are looking for someone who wants to work with young people at our meeting places, specifically our youth centers for ages 13-17, Youth House Ersboda and Youth House Hamnmagasinet, focusing on high school students.

We also run activities for adults with disabilities.

The meeting places are located within Umeå municipality, including Sävar, Hörnefors, and Holmsund/Obbola, and are open in the evenings, weekdays, and weekends. Participation is voluntary and based on the perceived needs, ideas, and wishes of the target group. Do you want to be one of us?

Your Responsibilities

You will work in youth activities at Umeå municipality's meeting places. The meeting places have different age divisions and focuses to meet the needs of the target group. As a recreation leader assistant, you will work to inspire and support young people in taking space and shaping the content of the meeting place according to their needs, ideas, and wishes.

About You

We are looking for someone who has completed high school. If you are studying or have studied at a teacher/social work/culture/sports pedagogy program or other education aimed at working with youth in a supportive role, that is a plus. You find it easy to build relationships with young people and are passionate about helping them make healthy choices and be involved in the content and development of recreational activities. Experience in leadership roles within the non-profit sector is an advantage. We are looking for individuals with a passion for various hobbies, such as arts and crafts, gaming, dance, music, e-sports, sports, baking, or similar. We welcome applicants with knowledge of other languages besides Swedish, such as Arabic, Persian, Dari, Farsi, Tigrinya, Somali, etc.

A driving license (B) is required if you work at youth centers outside the central area, i.e., Sävar, Holmsund/Obbola, and Hörnefors.

Due to the law on suitability checks, a police record extract must be presented upon employment. We intend to have a quick recruitment process and therefore prefer that you, as an applicant, have ordered the police record extract and are prepared to present it already at the interview.
