Probation Service Stockholm City
The Probation Service Stockholm City covers the municipalities of Stockholm and Ekerö. About 200 employees and ten managers work here with clients who are conditionally released, sentenced to probation, community service, youth supervision, or monitored with electronic ankle bracelets. We also conduct personal investigations and run various treatment programs. Our office is located at Tegeluddsvägen 31 in newly established office premises, close to the subway and buses, with access to a gym, rooftop terrace, and good parking options for both cars and bicycles.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are now looking for someone who wants to work as a probation officer with special responsibility for coordination in our control group. The probation officers staff the reception and manage the control for secure entry. They also follow up on clients under electronic supervision, including home and workplace visits. This means that probation officers split their time between working in the reception at the office and visiting clients at their homes or workplaces by car. The control group consists of about 20 probation officers.
As a coordinator, you participate in the daily work of the team but have a clear responsibility for overseeing and coordinating activities and tasks. The probation service is facing many upcoming changes and challenges where you, as a coordinator, together with the probation inspector, will play an important role in the continued work ahead. You actively work to identify areas for improvement, propose efficiencies, and ensure that the operation is prepared for upcoming demands, such as legislative changes. You also have an important role in implementing new working methods and routines in the control group and introducing new staff to the work.
This is a new position where you will have an important role in shaping the assignment and developing our working methods. You work closely with the probation inspector with ongoing dialogue in daily work and collaborate with other parts of the organization as needed. The role also requires good insight into the authority's security work.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with extensive work experience in similar tasks. Your personal qualities are important. As a probation officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you drive the operation, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. We are looking for someone who is unpretentious and has the ability to motivate others. You take responsibility for your assignment and feel comfortable coordinating and leading without having personnel responsibility.
Since the role is newly established, we prefer someone who is both self-driven and flexible, and who can easily adapt to new circumstances. You see opportunities in changes and have good problem-solving skills. We also see that you are proactive and results-oriented, and that you solve problems smoothly and constructively together with your colleagues and managers.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
- Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
- Good computer skills
- Class B driver's license with good driving experience
It is an advantage if you have:
- Approved probation officer training
- Experience in coordinating roles
- Several years of work experience in corrections, probation, or other security-related work
- Experience in security control/entry or other technical work
- Experience in decision-making within the legal chain or other operations with similar assignments and responsibilities
For us, it is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally with your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
