The Stockholm South Police Area is divided into eight local police areas: Globen, Farsta, Skärholmen, Nacka, Haninge/Nynäshamn, Huddinge, Botkyrka, and Södertälje. At the police area level, there are the investigation section, serious crime section, surveillance section, section for crimes in close relationships, operational support section, and the investigation on-call section. Furthermore, there is a police area office.
The investigation on-call section is organized at the police area level. The section is responsible for preliminary investigation leadership and initial investigative measures for the entire police area around the clock. The mission of the investigation on-call section is to meet and manage the police area's influx of crime reports in a timely manner, both in prioritized cases involving, for example, detained individuals and in mass crimes.
You are applying as a preliminary investigation leader for the on-call investigation section's mass crime groups, which were established at the turn of 2023/2024, in accordance with the enhanced on-call work. We have three mass crime groups distributed across two stations, in Västberga & Flemingsberg. The groups work with cases based on the definition of short prognosis and are not governed by crime codes. The purpose is to relieve local police areas as much as possible by concluding (FUP, FUB, or closure) at the earliest stage possible. We also handle Nordic, European & international arrest warrants with detained individuals. With us, you have the opportunity to drive development & create conditions for an effective team that can contribute to the overall work within the on-call section, but above all, the Stockholm South Police Area. We are relatively new groups, so here you have the chance to make your mark on the operations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a preliminary investigation leader, you will be responsible for and lead police-led preliminary investigations and also act as an investigation leader in prosecutor-led cases. You need to be prepared to make decisions to drive preliminary investigations forward by actively evaluating evidence and balancing various interests against each other. You will lead the group's employees effectively and modernly and, together with the group manager, drive the operations towards jointly set goals.
As a preliminary investigation leader, you primarily work weekdays, but there may be work evenings and weekends according to VAA, operationally adapted working hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- approved Swedish police exam in accordance with the Police Ordinance (2014:1105) or have legal education covering criminal investigations or other equivalent education that the employer assesses as equivalent
- been active in crime-fighting activities for at least six months
- completed the police's national preliminary investigation leader training (NFU) or basic preliminary investigation leadership, or have another education that qualifies you to lead preliminary investigations
- experience in gathering legal sources/practice and applying the content
- good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
- knowledge of evidence evaluation
- Swedish B driver's license
It is meritorious if you also have:
- completed advanced preliminary investigation leadership
- experience in leadership
- ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English
Personal qualities
We are looking for someone who is self-assured, analytical, and good at creating a comprehensive picture from large amounts of information. You are comfortable in a leadership role and have the ability to convey your knowledge, give directives, and show good judgment even under pressure. The role gives you a lot of responsibility, and it is important that you are comfortable prioritizing and making decisions, even in stressful situations when complete decision-making grounds are sometimes lacking. Since the work may involve many points of contact both internally and externally, you are expected to be communicative and have a good ability to create contact and dialogue.
