The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is a government agency that, together with the police, prosecutors, and courts, is responsible for reducing crime and increasing people's safety. Most of those sentenced to correctional services are in probation. Probation is correctional service that takes place in the community, where a sentence in probation involves both control and support for the convicted. Probation is growing; we are receiving new and more extensive assignments and are now looking for new employees to fulfill various roles in our societal mission. The probation service works according to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's vision of Better Out.

As a summer substitute, you are an important person for us; you ensure that our regular employees can take their vacation. You will receive two weeks of introduction during weeks 23-24, and then you should be available to work during weeks 25-34.

The probation service in Stockholm city has its offices in Gärdet in central Stockholm, a short walk from the subway. The probation service in Stockholm County has two offices, one in Huddinge and one in Sollentuna. Both offices are close to commuter trains and buses.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of probation officer, you contribute to a safer and more secure society. In this role, you are the face of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and the first person that visitors come into contact with at the probation office. The job responsibilities include staffing the reception of the probation office, ensuring secure entry, and following up on clients under electronic supervision, which includes both home visits and workplace visits.

It also includes technical handling and readiness for enforcement with electronic control as well as community service checks. Part of your working time will be spent with a colleague in a car, as we have large geographical areas to cover. You will work closely with probation inspectors, administrators, and the probation officer who is your immediate supervisor. You will work in a team on a rotating schedule with your probation colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant. (Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment)
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
  • Good computer skills.
  • A valid driver's license (B) with good driving experience.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Approved correctional education.
  • Relevant work experience in one or more of the areas of correctional services, security work, or psychosocial work, for example, within HVB, social psychiatry where you have had meetings with people in vulnerable situations.
  • Experience in security control/access or other technical work, such as electronic monitoring.
  • Knowledge or experience in conflict management or client-facing work.
  • Experience in service occupations, such as in retail, fast food chains, or reception.
  • Relevant language skills.
