The Social Services Department is tasked with meeting people of all ages and life situations, whether it involves care and support or assistance and services. We are available around the clock and support the daily lives of children and families, the elderly, people with disabilities, and those who need home care. Due to its geographical location along the main railway line, Älmhult Municipality has excellent commuting opportunities across county borders. With direct trains, it takes 35 minutes to Växjö and less than an hour and a half to Malmö.

At the Child and Family Unit, we work in teams with different focuses. We collaborate with each other, but also with other units within the Social Services Department and with external partners.

The unit consists of:

• 1 unit manager
• 2 senior social workers
• 7 social workers focusing on child investigations including reception
• 4 social workers focusing on monitoring placements
• 2 family home social workers

JOB DESCRIPTION

At the Child and Family Unit, we want to provide children and young people with high-quality support. Together with other municipalities in the region, we are currently starting the Professional Journey. The Professional Journey is a concept for introduction and skills development aimed at ensuring quality in every interaction between social services employees and residents.

When children and young people cannot stay at home for various reasons, it is crucial that we can offer safe, loving, and stable family homes. We at Älmhult Municipality work to ensure that every child in family homes receives care characterized by continuity and quality. In this role, you will be a key person providing family homes with the support and guidance they need to succeed in their important mission.

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference for children and young people! As a family home social worker in Älmhult Municipality, you will play an important role in creating stable and secure family placements. Your main task as a family home social worker is to recruit and assess new family homes, contact families, and contact persons for children and young people.

Family home care is a focus area for us, and we are investing heavily in developing our work with family homes to ensure that all children and young people in our care receive the safety and support they are entitled to. Together with the child's social worker, you will work to match each family home according to the child's unique needs. You will be responsible for following up on family placements, supporting the family homes in their tasks, and providing them with guidance and training to ensure they can provide the best possible care.

We are looking for someone who has:

• The ability to create trusting and supportive relationships, both with family homes and your colleagues.
• A humble and solution-oriented attitude, with good collaboration skills and the ability to handle different perspectives and needs.
• Good organizational skills and structure, with the ability to independently drive and follow up on activities.
• Experience in training and supporting family homes, which is a significant plus.

A driver's license is required, as the position involves some travel to family homes in other municipalities.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another higher education that the employer deems equivalent. You are a person who sees opportunities and considers yourself a resource in meetings with others. You need to be flexible in your working methods but also able to show clarity and structure when needed. You have the ability to find the individual's own resources by being creative, attentive, and adaptable based on different meetings.

It is an advantage if you have completed training in 'A Lasting Relationship' and training in 'A Home to Grow In'. Experience in family home care or other social work is desirable.
