The role of nursing assistant/care assistant/care aide

As a summer substitute, you will be involved in the care of patients in connection with their dialysis treatment. Through your work, you will play an important role in ensuring that all practical daily tasks in the dialysis unit run smoothly. You will assist in the patient's first encounter with dialysis, assign treatment locations, serve meals, transport patients, and in some cases perform blood pressure checks and monitor blood pressure and weight as well as disconnect dialysis machines. Preparations such as setting up stick carts, making beds, and handling rinses and sterile materials are also part of the daily tasks.

We know that it is not always easy to be new on the job, and therefore we do our utmost to ensure that you feel safe, excited, and prepared for your summer job with us. During week 24, we have introductory days with scenario training and education, and we hope you can participate. In addition, we offer unit-specific introductions. We view positively if you can shadow during the spring.

The summer jobs are temporary positions, and the percentage can be discussed. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and every other Saturday. We need substitute nursing assistants/care assistants/healthcare aides from week 24 to 33. It is desirable if you can work many of – or all – the weeks.

The Department of Medicine and Geriatrics is the largest department at Värnamo Hospital with many services under one roof. We have three inpatient care units with different focuses on medical specialties. The department also has outpatient care, including medical day care and the dialysis unit. Our outpatient services encompass all medical specialties.

Your profile

We prefer that you are a trained nursing assistant, caregiver, or have started studies to become a nursing assistant, nurse, or doctor.

We are looking for someone who is calm, stable, and can easily adapt to the various circumstances that often occur in a hospital. You have an easy time collaborating and are attentive to both colleagues and patients. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Please be sure to indicate any internships and work experience in your application. It is important that you also attach your diploma. If you have not yet completed your studies, please attach a LADOK extract or other certificate showing completed courses.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant is a protected professional title, so if you are a trained nursing assistant, you will need to indicate in your application whether you have applied for the protected title. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and have not applied for the protected title, please attach a certificate of your permanent position in your application to continue to hold the title of nursing assistant.
