Welcome to apply for an exciting position where you meet children and adolescents with congenital disabilities and/or neurological diseases.

A couple of the pediatric neurologists are approaching retirement. We are therefore looking for someone who wants to meet, understand, and investigate children and adolescents who may have, for example, unknown, rare, or complex diagnoses. You are driven by your pediatric neurological expertise to contribute to the best possible assessment and treatment for our patients.

Your role as a pediatric neurologist

You will divide your work between the child habilitation and the pediatric clinic. At the pediatric clinic, you have a pediatric neurology clinic and work as a pediatric neurology consultant supporting the pediatric care unit and neonatal care unit. You are part of the epilepsy team and will participate in the on-call system. The pediatric clinic is a hospital within a hospital. The pediatric clinic has around 180 employees in the professional categories of pediatricians, pediatric nurses, child care assistants, nursing assistants, medical administrators, and educators.

The habilitation center is a regional clinic with outpatient services in Jönköping, Eksjö, and Värnamo, comparable to the pediatric clinic in terms of the number of employees. The operation is team-based, and we have many professions working together; occupational therapists, dietitians, physiotherapists, social workers, speech therapists, doctors, psychologists, nurses, special educators, and medical administrators.

With us, you will be the pediatric neurological expertise in the team. Collaboration between different professions and together with the patient is central to achieving the best treatment results.

The foundation of our work is the meeting with children/adolescents and their families who come into contact with us based on their individual needs for habilitation. Based on the child's/young person's needs, interventions are planned and designed together with the patient and their guardians.

The medical team

We currently have six pediatric neurologists, one pediatrician, one child psychiatrist, and a specialist in general medicine within child habilitation. The medical team has a close collaboration with each other and holds regular meetings, which allows for discussions and consultations regarding our patients. You will be an important part of the teams you will work within. You will have the opportunity to reflect and develop together with other professionals.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who is a pediatric neurologist or pediatrician with an interest in advancing to become a pediatric neurologist by completing further specialist training. As a person, you are secure, stable, and have good self-awareness.

Since you will be working in several workplaces and in teams with several colleagues, we value that you have good collaboration skills.

According to our current work model, your work week will be divided between the pediatric clinic and the habilitation center, with approximately half of the time at each workplace. If you are a pediatric neurologist, you will soon start working at the clinic, and we hope that you will enjoy being with us. If you aim to become a pediatric neurologist, we want to offer you the opportunity for a main placement at the Child and Youth Habilitation.

You will be part of the habilitation's medical unit, where several specialists are already working, and there are good opportunities for supervision. Working in a team with other professional groups is an important part of the job.

During your specialist training, supervision is included, and the specialist training will be organized according to the guidelines of the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Swedish Pediatric Neurology Association within the Pediatricians' Association. Planning is done in detail together with your supervisor. The specialist training also includes external rotations, usually in Jönköping, Linköping, and Gothenburg. The specialist training leads to specialist competence in pediatric and adolescent neurology with habilitation, according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's goal description for specialization training (2021).
