The role of nursing assistant/care assistant/caregiver

As a summer substitute, you will be involved in the care of patients across all medical specialties. You will work in a team together with both nurses and nursing assistants. Your tasks will mainly consist of care work, monitoring vital parameters, and documentation.

We know that it is not always easy to be new on the job, and therefore we do our utmost to ensure that you feel safe, excited, and prepared for your summer job with us. During week 24, we have introduction days with scenario training and education, and we hope you can participate. In addition, we have unit-specific introductions. We view positively if you can shadow during the spring.

The summer jobs are temporary full-time positions. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends. We need substitute nursing assistants/care assistants/caregivers from week 24-32. You need to be able to work at least 4 weeks after the introduction – or all – weeks.

Your future workplace

The Department of Medicine and Geriatrics is the largest clinic at Värnamo Hospital with many services under one roof. We have three inpatient care units with different focuses on medical specialties. The clinic also has outpatient care, including medical day care and the dialysis unit. Our outpatient services encompass all medical specialties.

Your profile

You are already a trained nursing assistant, caregiver, or studying to become a nursing assistant, nurse, or doctor. We prefer that you have completed the third semester as a nursing or medical student, but individual assessments can be made earlier.

We are looking for someone who is calm, stable, and can easily adapt to the various circumstances that often prevail in a hospital. Since you will be working in a team, we appreciate if you can collaborate easily and are attentive to both colleagues and patients. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Please make sure to include any internships and work experience in your application. It is also important that you attach your diploma. If you have not yet completed your studies, please attach a LADOK extract or other certificate showing completed courses.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant is a protected professional title, so if you are a trained nursing assistant, you will need to indicate in your application whether you have applied for the protected title. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and have not applied for the protected title, we ask you to attach a certificate of your permanent employment in your application to retain the title of nursing assistant.
