Coach in NOVA Support for Change
NOVA's operations are conducted within the Employment Unit, which is organized under the municipal board and is tasked with driving and coordinating labor market issues, social assistance, and integration matters. The Employment Unit works for inclusion in society regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, or social background. The core mission is to support individuals who lack a stable foothold in the labor market towards work and self-sufficiency. The operations are centrally located in Vaggeryd with excellent commuting opportunities, and we also share premises with the Employment Agency.

We currently have an open position for a coach in NOVA Support for Change. NOVA is funded by the Coordination Association of Southern Vätterbygden and is operated in collaboration with the municipalities of Jönköping, Habo, and Mullsjö. NOVA's target group consists of individuals between 20 and 64 years old who are outside the labor market and need coordinated and rehabilitative work-preparatory efforts to eventually participate in regular labor market-oriented initiatives. NOVA works with the method 7TWENTY as a foundation, which aims to provide conditions for individuals to grow and develop. Participants gain knowledge about communication, attitudes, self-image, and personal responsibility, and have the opportunity to reflect on themselves and their surroundings to strengthen self-esteem and participation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a coach in NOVA, you will closely collaborate with your colleague in NOVA in Vaggeryd municipality. You will also cooperate with team leaders and other coaches in nearby municipalities. Your job responsibilities include:
- Coaching and supporting individuals both individually and in groups towards increased physical and mental health, self-esteem, and personal responsibility
- Creating, developing, and implementing group activities based on the 7TWENTY method, but other methodological elements may also be used. The needs of the participants, along with the coaches' competencies, will guide the structure.
- Collaborating with referrers from the Social Insurance Agency, the Region, and the municipality's social assistance, as well as other actors, based on the individual's needs.
Patience and understanding for complex life situations are necessary to thrive in this role, and you need to be comfortable meeting and conversing with people. You should have strong collaboration skills, maintaining and developing the cooperation required for the assignment both internally and externally.
As a coach in NOVA, you will establish an individual plan with each participant and actively follow up on it. You will support individuals in their change processes and help them take steps towards studies, work, and self-sufficiency. You need to have experience in conversing, listening, and motivating people towards change, and as a person, you should be independent, empathetic, secure, and patient.
QUALIFICATIONS:
You have a relevant university degree, preferably in social work or occupational therapy, with knowledge and experience working with individuals with physical/mental health issues and/or disabilities. The ability to work goal-oriented both independently and in a team is prioritized. Engagement, drive, and the ability to meet people in difficult life situations are essential in this role.
In your work, you should base your actions on the organization's mission and values. As an employee, you are expected to be flexible and work closely with your colleagues in the team and with referrers. Knowledge and experience in Empowerment, 7TWENTY, NPF, social treatment work, and motivational interviewing (Ml) are advantageous.
Experience in municipal labor market operations, financial assistance, welfare systems, the Social Insurance Agency, and the Employment Agency is also meritorious. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You must have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing.
A valid driver's license (B) is required. A probationary period may be applied.
