The Highlands Federation is a municipal federation formed by Aneby, Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. These five municipalities, located in the Småland highlands, value collaboration and know that we are stronger together. By combining our strengths and resources, we can increase competence, better utilize resources, improve quality, and provide better service to residents. Today, we have a range of different operations working for the benefit of the entire Highlands.

One of the operations within the Highlands Federation is Höglandsgymnasiet. Höglandsgymnasiet has schools in Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. We have about 550 employees working to ensure that our approximately 3000 students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for the future in the workforce or for further studies.

Your New Job

We are looking for a temporary school counselor for Aleholmsgymnasiet, as the current counselor will go on parental leave. In the role of counselor, you will work both on an individual level and at a strategic level. You will support students who are struggling with their schoolwork or the psychosocial environment at school, while also contributing to the school's overall work and collaborating with other schools and external actors, such as social services. You will work to improve the psychosocial school environment, not least through your work in the student health team. The job also includes collaboration with parents, teachers, the school nurse, and career counselors.

Your work primarily involves building relationships with students. You will have conversations with students about their life situations and work towards improving their study motivation. Part of the assignment involves guiding the school's staff and liaising with other authorities.

As a school counselor, your work is both preventive and supportive, and you will play an important role in the school.

About You

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another qualification deemed equivalent. It is advantageous to have previously worked as a school counselor or counselor. Other work experience is also meritorious.

To thrive in this role, it is important that you have good computer skills, as communication, documentation, and planning largely occur through digital tools. The school uses the journal system Prorenata, so it is advantageous if you have experience with this or similar systems.

Personal qualities we are looking for include independence and stability. You build good relationships and are a trustworthy person who easily sees the bigger picture and takes responsibility for it. You collaborate well with others and have an empathetic ability. To fit in the role, you need to have a good ability to structure, plan, and prioritize your work.

Since the turn of the year 2024/2025, Aleholmsgymnasiet has been part of Höglandsgymnasiet, a collaboration between high schools in Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. Together, we work to create a strong and innovative educational environment that benefits our approximately 3000 students, of which about 240 attend Aleholm. The position is a temporary role at 80% for about a year in 2026.
