The Role of the Nurse

As a summer substitute nurse, your work will involve participating in planning, leading, and organizing nursing care together with patients and other professionals. We work individually tailored with the patient in focus.

The work is varied and stimulating, where one day is not like the other. As a nurse, you will develop through the multifaceted tasks that the broad medical emergency care entails.

We know that it is not always easy to be new on the job, and therefore we do our utmost to ensure that you feel secure, excited, and prepared for your summer job with us. Before you start working in the organization, you will receive thorough training based on your needs and experiences.

The summer jobs are fixed-term full-time positions. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends. We need substitute nurses during weeks 24-32. It is an advantage if you can work many or all of the weeks. We view positively if you have the opportunity to shadow during the spring.

For those who continue their employment after the summer, we offer you the chance to participate in one of Sweden's best introductory and development programs for newly educated nurses - RIU. The program includes 20 full days spread over eight months with lectures, internships, and reflections. RIU gives you the opportunity to meet other nurses in the same situation where you exchange experiences and provide each other with advice and support.

The Medicine and Geriatrics Clinic is the largest clinic at Värnamo Hospital with many services under the same roof. We have three inpatient care units with different specialties. The clinic also has outpatient care, including medical day care and the dialysis unit. Our outpatient services encompass all medical specialties.

Your Profile

For these summer jobs, we are looking for someone who is in the final stages of their nursing education. You are expected to graduate and become a licensed nurse in the summer of 2026.

As a person, you are calm, stable, and adaptable to the various circumstances that often prevail in a hospital. Since you will be working in a team, we appreciate if you are cooperative and responsive to both colleagues and patients. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
