Nurse Night Shift Welcome to the Bipolar Ward

Ward 366 is a specialist psychiatric inpatient ward with a mission to care for individuals in bipolar episodes.

Patients with other affective disorders, such as depression and anxiety syndromes, are also cared for here. The ward has 15 beds.

About Us

Care is planned and organized in teams, focusing on the individual care needs of the patient. In addition to acute and relapse-preventive medical treatment, care and nursing interventions are tailored according to the issues and where in the recovery process the patient is located. The ward has a close collaboration with the bipolar outpatient clinic, which is the country's largest specialist clinic for bipolar disorder.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse on the night shift, you will lead and distribute work during the night. You contribute to a calm and safe care environment and ensure that medical patient safety is maintained. You prepare and administer night medications as well as medications as needed and make independent assessments of patients' conditions and needs for nursing and care interventions.

Together with your work team, consisting of two caregivers, you actively work to ensure that patients' needs for care and support are met and that good conditions are created for recovery and sleep. The work requires a calm, safe, and low-arousal approach as well as close and good collaboration within the team.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed nurse, preferably with experience in psychiatry or other people-oriented professions. A specialist nursing education in psychiatry is an advantage but not a requirement. You have a genuine interest in helping and supporting people in vulnerable situations and want to contribute to creating good relationships with patients, relatives, and colleagues.

You are confident in your professional role, have a good ability to lead, distribute, and delegate tasks, and make independent decisions based on patients' care needs. You are flexible and contribute to a good work environment where everyone helps and supports each other – if necessary, even across departmental boundaries. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Sahlgrenska University Hospital has a time quota linked to the night shift, which reduces weekly working hours for each night worked.

In the event of recruitment of nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the current position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Base Year, which is our introductory program. The Clinical Base Year is mandatory and lasts during the first year of your employment with us. The Clinical Base Year includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. In addition, it also includes service in at least two different wards to broaden your competence.
