JOB DESCRIPTION

This advertisement is for you who want to work as a correctional officer and who have completed the basic training of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service with a passing grade.

As a correctional officer, you can contribute to a safer society. You work in teams with other professionals and have the opportunity to help people break the vicious circle and motivate them not to reoffend. Clear routines are a natural part of your daily work.

Working in a prison is varied; care, surveillance, searches, and security work are mixed with release planning as well as conversation and motivational work. Employment begins with a local introduction at the prison.

Examples of functional assignments relevant to this recruitment process:

• VSP investigator: Conduct VSP investigations that form the basis for planning the client's enforcement.
• Mail review and possession processes.
• Functional assignments in our Isolation Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who works well with others and can relate to them in a responsive and flexible manner. You should have good knowledge of the security routines of the correctional service. In addition, you are expected to have good analytical skills and the ability to express yourself well in both speech and writing. It is important that you can plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. You take great responsibility for your tasks and drive your processes forward, think strategically about issues, see the big picture, and consider the broader perspective.

To succeed in your role, it is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief in people's willingness and ability to develop. You are expected to contribute to everyone being treated equally through your approach.

Requirements:

• Complete upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Approved correctional officer training.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

It is advantageous if you have:

• Approved advanced course in security or advanced course RBM HP VSP.
• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, or conflict management.
• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as investigating, being a presenter, and making decisions in client matters.
• Language skills beyond Swedish and English.
